Preston fans will no doubt flock the terraces hoping to gain bragging rights against their tangerine rivals from the Championship, and North End gaffer Simon Grayson has every incentive to get his side up for this as he will be desperate to knock-out the club he managed for three years before acrimoniously leaving for Leeds in 2008. Summer signings included veteran striker Kevin Davies from Bolton on a free transfer in a shrewd piece of business for the League One club, who enjoyed a better end to last season after a nightmare start under ex-boss Graham Westley. North End’s target for the season will be promotion back to the Championship and are as short as 7/2 with some bookmakers to do so.

Blackpool defeated Championship new boys Doncaster on Saturday, and no doubt will be boosted to hold on to star man and top-goalscorer Thomas Ince who committed his future to the Bloomfield Road club, much to the delight of Dad and Manager Paul. The Tangerines lost manager Ian Holloway to Crystal Palace after a decent start to the season, and their inconsistent form under Ince saw them finish in 15th place. They are widely expected to finish around the same position again this season. Both teams are inevitably expected to make a few changes from their games on Saturday with only two days rest in between.

Both Teams to Score will be a popular market, with many bookies unable to separate the teams in terms of a winner. Preston may be the best value for money however, as home advantage may prove to be the difference in this local derby.
