Cheltenham Festival Day 3 Betting Tips and Predictions

Cheltenham Festival betting tips for the day 3 card where the Stayers Hurdle is the feature race and we start with a short priced favourite for the JLT.

The bookies were laughing all the way to the bank when Douvan got beat yesterday and they will be well on top if Unowhatimeanharry gets turned over in the Stayers Hurdle today. Our racing tipster has picked the best bets for the 5 live ITV races.

Cheltenham Day 3 Betting Tips

JLT Novices’ Chase

Graham Wylie, Willie Mullins and Ruby Walsh teamed up to win this race last year with Black Hercules and I believe they’ll do so again this time around with Yorkhill. This horse has got some engine and providing he jumps round he should win, despite there being some more than worthy opposition. He won the Neptune very impressively at last seasons festival, the achilles heal could be that he doesn’t jump well and leave the door open for the more sound jumpers.

1.30pm Tip – Yorkhill – 6/4 with William Hill.

*OFFER* if the winner wins by 5 lengths or more you’ll get a refund on your losing bet, if your horse wins you’ll get a 25% bonus on top of your winnings.

Pertemps Handicap Hurdle

A competitive looking race, I fancy Impulsive Star (E/W) to go close. The only time he has tasted defeat was in a Grade 2 at this course, but he got back on track in good style when winning at Exeter last month. He’s gone up 10lbs but that looks fair considering he beat some very useful rivals. Sam Waley-Cohen is a good jockey and his 3lb claim makes his mount even more attractive.

2.10pm Tip – Impulsive Star (each-way) – 9/1 with bet365.

Ryanair Chase

Un De Sceaux is undoubtedly the one to beat here but I’m eager to take him on as the ground looks like being good and I don’t think that favours him at all. Sub Lieutenant (E/W) boasts strong form behind the likes of Djakadam and Sizing John, he also beat Outlander earlier this season. He goes on any ground and he is very much an unknown in this field so I think it’s worth taking a chance on him.

2.50pm Tip – Sub Lieutenant (each-way) – 15/2 with bet365.

Stayers’ Hurdle

I simply can’t get away from Unowhatimeanharry as he has beaten most of the British opposition and looks all class. Unbeaten in 8 starts since moving to Harry Fry he doesn’t look like he has finished improving. He only does what he has to in order to win so we still don’t know how good he is. A winner at last years festival he is impossible to oppose.

3.30pm Tip – Unowhatimeanharry – 6/4 with Betfair.

*OFFER* – 10/1 for Unowhatimeanharry to win via this Betfair link.

Brown Advisory Plate

Bouvreuil (E/W) looks to have strong claims of adding to Paul Nicholls Cheltenham tally. He has been slightly under par in two runs this campaign, but the ground was soft on both occasions and I believe he performs better on good ground. Two seconds on two visits to the festival show he can handle the big occasion. He is 6lbs higher than he was this time last year but I would like to think that he has improved at least that if not more.

4.10pm Tip – Bouvreuil (each-way) – 14/1 with Bet Victor.
