Cheltenham Festival Day 2 Betting Tips for the 5 ITV Races

After a fantastic day 1 of the 2017 Cheltenham Festival where Nicky Henderson made the headlines with both Altior and Buveur D’Air we move onto our day 2 Cheltenham tips.

Once again we’ve got the best betting tips for the five ITV races on Wednesday 15th March and reasons for each bet. Douvan is the banker of the meeting and we’re treated to seeing him in the Queen Mother Champion Chase, but there is money to be made elsewhere and win an each-way bet on the race.

Cheltenham Day 2 Betting Tips

Neptune Novices’ Hurdle

Harry Fry has some good horses in his stable now and Neon Wolf is certainly one of those. He has carried all before him so far and he looks like a superstar in the making. The way he won at Haydock was very impressive considering he was against some decent yardsticks including Elgin and this extra distance will pose no threat to him as he has won a point to point.

1.30pm Tip – Neon Wolf to win: 2/1 with Betfred.

RSA Chase

Many people are against Might Bite in this race but you can’t take away from him his dominating performance at Kempton before he came to grief at the last fence. He resumed winning ways and boosted his confidence with an easy win at Doncaster earlier in the year. He seems to have come into his own this season and he can run this field ragged. To my eyes it looks like a fairly weak renewal and he is the class act.

2.10pm Tip – Might Bite to win: 4/1 with Betfair.

Coral Cup

Tombstone is likely to line up here and he was fourth in last years Supreme Novices’ Hurdle which is outstanding form. However, I will opt to take him on with Peregrine Run (E/W) as he has done nothing but improve this campaign. He won a Grade 2 at Cheltenham in November beating Wholestone and that should stand him in good stead for this.

2.50pm Tip – Peregrine Run (each-way) – 11/1 with Paddy Power.

Queen Mother Champion Chase

Douvan is in a league of his own and will be extremely tough to beat. But at a bigger price I fancy the chances of God’s Own (E/W) who has been off the track since the Tingle Creek in preparation for the festival. He appreciates good ground and was fourth in the race last year and with that experience under his belt can hopefully land us some place money.

3.30pm Tip – Gods Own (each-way): 14/1 with bet365.

Cross Country Chase

A winner here for the previous two years, Cause of Causes can gain a third successive festival win. It took him a while to warm up on his first start over cross country fences here in January but he has reportedly schooled around the track since and is in great form. He comes alive at this time of the year and he can give Jamie Codd anther well-earned Cheltenham success.

4.10pm Tip – Cause of Causes to win: 4/1 with Ladbrokes.
