Groningen v Slovan Liberec – Groningen win 

Groningen got a last gasp equaliser in the Czech Republic when these sides met two weeks ago. It was a rebound from a penalty and it was a huge goal for the Dutch side. Erwin Van Der Looi's side cannot afford to lose this, or they will not be able to finish any higher than third in the group. It is a must win game and they'll be glad to be playing in front of a home crowd. They have been terrific this season at the Euroborg and they will look to continue that. It's their maiden season in the Europa League and they'll be desperate not to end it prematurely. Liberec have only ever beaten a Dutch side once in this competition and have never won in the Netherlands. That bodes well for Groningen, who are unbeaten at home all season and have only conceded 3 goals all season. It might be a low scoring game, but I'm backing the home side to come out on top. 

 

Besiktas v Lokomotiv Moscow – Both Teams to Score? Yes

These two sides are unbeaten in the tournament so far and they shared a 1-1 draw when they met earlier in the competition. Lokomotiv could qualify if they win here and Sporting lose. Whilst it seems unlikely that the Portuguese side will fluff their lines, 3 points here would put them in a superb position for the knock-out rounds. Besiktas have scored in each of their last 6 Europa League games and will be a huge danger to Lokomotiv Moscow who conceded 6 at the weekend to Kuban Krasnodar. They've conceded 9 goals in their last 3 Russian Premier League games and have only failed to score once since the 23rd August. Besiktas shared a 3-3 draw at the weekend and that was hot on the heels of a 5-1 win, so there's plenty of goals in this side. 

 

Athletico Bilbao v Partizan – Athletico Bilbao win 

A home win here and Bilbao could go 3 points clear at the top of their group. They have decent form in front of their own fans, losing only to Barcelona and Bayern Munich, both by just a single goal. Bilbao won 2-0 in Belgrade last month and I think they can serve up double defeat here. They won 3-1 away at Real Betis and have scored 6 goals in their last 2 home games against Gijon and Valencia and they look in good shape to make it three wins in a row. Partizan have not progressed beyond this stage since 2004/5, which was their first year in the competition whereas Bilbao have a good record in this competition. Partizan have won just one game on the road since late August and I can't see them bringing anything back from Spain. 

 

Viktoria Plzen v Rapid Vienna – Plzen to win 

There wasn't much between these sides when they met in October as it ended 3-2 to Rapid Vienna. We are in the Czech Republic now and I think the result could be reversed. Rapid have maximum points going into Matchday 4 and will be difficult to overcome, but I think Plzen can win narrowly. They've only dropped 2 points at home all season and that was back in August, they are particularly stong here and will be desperate to stay in with a chance of qualifying from this group. A win here for the home side would stop Rapid's progress to the knockout stages and it would boost their own chances. They score plenty of goals and I expect this one to be another enthralling goal-filled contest. Plzen have only failed to score twice all season and I think they will try and outscore their opponents here.
