Breeders Cup Dirt Mile preview and betting tip: The Breeders Cup Dirt Mile is due off at 22.05 on Friday 1st November 2013, we have free racing tips for Friday's Santa Anita card.

It is the 7th running of the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile at this year’s Breeders’ Cup and it promises to be a cracking race. Despite only being the 7th running of the race some interesting stats have been thrown up over the past 6 years.

Breeders Cup Dirt Mile Trends.

5/6 – Dropped down in distance from running over a mile in previous race.

6/6 – Ran in 5 or more races that season.

6/6 – Ran in a Grade 1 over a mile or further.

4/6 – 4yo winners

0/6 – Favourite winners

Most of the Dirt Mile races in the past have gone to horses that like to close from the back of the field but you really need luck in running on the bend for home to have a chance in the race and being wide can be a disadvantage if the horse does not break well.

Two expected to break and head for the front from out wide will be the favourite Verrazano (3/1 Winner) from stall 10 and Goldencents (4/1 Winner) from stall 12. Verrazano is a worthy favourite for the Breeders Cup Dirt Mile after winning the Haskell and Wood Memorial G1’s but struggled in the Kentucky Derby and Travers latest. This is going to be his last race and connections are looking for a winning exit.

Goldencents is 2nd favourite and has been running well in the Santa Anita Sprint Championships but seemed to struggle when taking on further distances in the first two Triple Crown races.

Also drawn out wide in 11 is Pants On Fire (9/1 Coral) who has the beating of Tapitowne and Hymn Book but doesn’t seem to deliver when stepped up into grade 1 company and all 3 need to step up to really make a mark in this grade and come into consideration for our Breeders Cup betting tips.

Brujo De Olleros (12/1 Winner) was a Grade 1 winner in South America but will need to improve while Broadway Empire is an interesting 3yo who has won its previous 3 races but the form of those races doesn’t give this horse much of a chance against these.

Holy Lute and Centralinteligence have decent form in places but again Holy Lute’s form lines and Centralinteligence’s form at Santa Anita is enough to put me off these two. Fed Biz is an interesting sort with a win over Goldencents but struggled in this last year in a race not ran to suit but faces an easier task this year. Alpha hasn’t performed since dead-heating with Golden Ticket in the Travers and was outpaced in last year’s classic.

GOLDEN TICKET (12/1 Coral) is much better now than when dead heating with Alpha and was the one horse which stuck out when I priced the race up, the 4yo colt meets every trend in the race and if the experienced Joel Rosario can tuck him in behind and get a good position on the bend from stall 2 then 12/1 looks way too big for me. Golden Ticket is a horse not to be ignored and he is our predicted winner of the Breeders Cup Dirt Mile on Saturday.
