Breeders Cup Mile Preview and Betting Tips 2013

Breeders Cup Mile betting tips: The prestigious Breeders Cup, held at Santa Anita, is this weekend as the European team fly the flag against the might of the USA and we have free racing tips across the weekend.

The Breeders Cup mile's scheduled off time is 23.40 UK time and there will be a live stream available at Racebets.

The Mile is traditionally one of the races in the card that the Europeans seem to excel at and a small, but select, challenge from our shores sees Olympic Glory and Aidan O’Brien’s Cristoforo Colombo go toe to toe with the American elite.

However these two horses look like they will have their work cut out against home favourite Wise Dan (Evens Ladbrokes). He had won nine races in a row before being surprisingly beaten by Silver Max at Keeneland, who reopposes on Saturday.

However, he was easily beaten that day and Silver Max (6/1 Ladbrokes) might just be an improving type who at these current odds could represent real value. The 4-year-old, ridden by Robbi Albarado, has proven equally as good on turf or on dirt this season and Wise Dan could certainly be vulnerable to Silver Max in the Breeders Cup Mile on Sunday.

It is always tough to compare the form between European horses and their American counterparts, especially when none of the European raiders ever race on dirt.

When you go back and see the history of this race, it has always been a turf contest which is why horses from the UK and abroad tend to do so well in this contest.

If the race was on dirt, like the Classic, then I am sure that our horses would struggle to strike a blow against America’s best. This is why I believe Olympic Glory (5/1 Paddy Power) can make this a season to remember for Richard Hannon and Richard Hughes. He has proved a top class miler throughout this season which culminated in winning the QEII Stakes at Ascot on Champions Day.

Olympic Glory won’t have encountered ground this quick before but he seems to go on all ground and the assistance of first time blinkers last time out seemed to improve him even more.

He is a best priced 5/1 at the moment and makes up our first horse racing betting tip for the Breeders Cup Mile on Sunday. Cristoforo Colombo has been inconsistent this season but if he can replicate his two runs behind Dawn Approach then he may get a place.

My each way tip is former British trained No Jet Lag (10/1 Coral) who joined Simon Callaghan earlier this year. He has won both his starts across the pond and the step up to a mile on a really quick surface has proven right up his street and looks the perfect each-way bet tip for the Breeders Cup Mile 2013.
