Looking into the stats on this event it became clear that the previous five winners of this tournament had already entered the winning enclosure at least once that season on the European tour and that South African players looked to have good form over this particular event format.

Winning Nationality:  Rest Of The World 9/4 – 9/4 Stan James

Richard Sterne – 30/1 Each Way Sky Bet

Richard has won no less than 6 times on the European tour over his career with his latest win back in his homeland of South Africa at the Jo’burg Open back in February, Richard does seem to play his best golf back in South Africa but did win the Celtic Manor Wales Open back in 2007.

Charl Schwartzel – 22/1 Win William Hill

Charl is the highest ranked player to be involved this week and after seeing his countryman Branden Grace win here last yea,r this must spur on the 2011 Masters Champion to notch up his 9th European Tour win.  Charl came runner up to the above mentioned Sterne at the Jo’burg but did get into the winners circle back in December 2012 at the closely named Alfred Dunhill Championship, also back in his homeland.

Ernie Els – 33/1 Each Way Paddy Power

The Big Easy is well renowned for being a great links golf player, having won two Open Championships most recently at Royal Lytham St Annes just last summer, Ernie has gone on to win the BMW International Open in Munich just a few months back so will be coming to this event in fine form.

Louis Oosthuizen – 40/1 Each Way Paddy Power

The 2010 Open Champion is obviously very comfortable playing around the home of golf and with the field much weaker then the one when he won his first major, Louis must be added onto any shortlist.  Louis did have a great chance to win his second major at the Masters last year when only Bubba Watson’s brilliance denied the classy South African, Louis has also gone onto win this season on the European Tour at The Volvo Golf Champions also back in his homeland.
