Charlton v Wolves – Wolves Draw No Bet

Kenny Jackett needed a victory on Boxing Day to potentially save his job and Wolves' season from going down the pan. Jackett is an astute manager who is a problem solver and he masterminded a 1-0 victory over Reading in the late game of the day. That victory could possibly kick start their season and they can build on that, starting at the Valley. James Henry scored the only goal, but it will be the clean sheet which comes as the greatest relief, their first in a month and only their 7th of the season. It's been a season to forget so far for Charlton and with interim coach Karel Fraeye unable to turn results around, despite the intial upturn in fortunes when he took charge. Ademola Lookman is a bright spot in a season of little cheer and they Charlton fans will be briefly heartened by a late Harry Lennon leveller against Bristol City, but it looks a difficult task, potentially without Patrick Bauer & Alou Diarra. They've won only twice since the end of August and have struggled to defend with just two clean sheets in their last 20 matches.

Burnley v Bristol City – Burnley win

Burnley have not had a great run of form recently, but luckily for them, neither had Bristol City. Both have only won once in eight, but it's the Clarets who have had the hardest games. They've been defeated by Hull City, Middlesbrough and held to a 0-0 drew with Brighton. They were also held QPR and were beaten by a tough Preston North End side. Sean Dyche's side did beat lowly Charlton here last week, a side who Bristol City drew 1-1 with on Boxing Day. Bristol City have lost two of their last three away matches against Derby County and relegation rivals Rotherham. Steve Cotterill's side have been a little erratic this season, occasionally pulling out a sensational result – beating Middlesbrough being the obvious one. Dyche is not a manager who will tolerate a losing streak and will be doing everything to turn his side's fortunes around and I think they can please the Turf Moor crowd here.

Gillingham v Colchester – Gillingham win

It doesn't take a genius to tip this one up, but the price (at the time of writing) with Bet365 is 4/5, which seems very generous considering the different directions these two sides are taking. Colchester have lost eight straight games and have lost 11 of their last 13 matches. They sacked Tony Humes and there hasn't been any sort of turnaround in form. They failed to score in their last match at home to Southend have been shipping goals left, right and centre and have conceded 41 goals since the start of October. Despite a couple of good loanees, they could have done with defensive reinforcements to stop the leaks at the back. They face Gillingham, who put three past Swindon on Boxing Day and have scored at least two goals in four of their last five matches in League One. They've only lost once here all season and that was their last game against Burton Albion. They were down to 10 men early on after Doug Loft was dismissed, so it isn't a true reflection of them. They should wrap this up fairly easily.

Cambridge v Barnet – Cambridge win

Barnet struggle away from the Hive and it won't be ideal travelling to in-form Cambridge. Shaun Derry has taken over and there's been an immediate upturn in results. They convincingly beat Dagenham 3-0 in East London and despite the quick turnaround and losing Greg Taylor to injury in that match, I think they can make it two from two over the festive period, As poor travellers, Barnet will surely see a point as a decent enough from this game, but I think they will find it difficult. A out of the blue victory at the Kassam Stadium was their only success on the road this season and they've picked up just a single point from their last three away matches, that was against lowly Yeovil. Robbie Simpson came on and scored twice against Dagenham and he will be pushing for a start alongside Barry Corr, who scored his 11th of the season against the strugglers.

Notts County v Morecambe – Notts County win

Notts County have been difficult to beat at Meadow Lane despite their indifferent form on the road. They scraped past Newport and beat Barnet as well, scoring eight goals across the two games. Ricardo Moniz has his troops entertaining the home fans and providing plenty of thrills and spills. They've won four of their last five home matches, only losing to high flying Northampton in that sequence. They shouldn't have too many problems seeing off the freefalling Morecambe. Just one win from their last seven games in the league is a poor return from Jim Bentley's men and they might struggle here. They haven't won away since mid-October and even lost to struggling York last time out. The Minstermen's first win since Jackie McNamara took over.
