Doncaster Thursday Racing Betting Tips -The Best Bets Today

The Ladbrokes St Leger Festival continues on Thursday at Doncaster with plenty of the races coming live to our screens courtesy of Channel 4.

The featured races on day two of the festival are the Group Three Sceptre Stakes ran over the straight seven furlongs, and the DFS Park Hill Stakes, a group two race, over the extended mile and three quarter trip, the exact yardage for the feature race on Saturday, The Ladbrokes St Ledger. Here we take a look at the live races and pick out our best bets for the day.

1.40 Doncaster – European Breeders´ Fund Carrie Red Fillies´ Nursery Stakes (Handicap) (Class 2) 6f110y

Finished second in a couple of maidens at Newbury and Hamilton Park before showing a considerable amount of improvement to win on Nursery debut at Sandown park two weeks ago, with the experience of Ryan Moore keeping the ride, and only going up 4lb in the weights, there could be a lot more to come from this filly and looks a cracking each way bet to get things up and running.

2.10 Doncaster – Japan Racing Association Sceptre Stakes (Fillies' Group 3) (Class 1) 7f

Win Selection – Maureen @ 3/1 with Betfred

Tough horse who is a Group three winner as a two year old who also took the Fred Darling stakes. She has been running in Group One Company for the last four starts and has never been disgraced. Trainer Richard Hannon as always held this filly in high regard and back down into a Group three, surely must be a huge player and at the prices, we think there is some value to be had.

2.40 Doncaster – Weatherbys Hamilton Insurance 300,000 2-y-o Stakes (Class 2) 6f110y

E/W Selection – Ben Hall @ 8/1 with Bet365

This race has thrown up some nice types in the past and we are hoping Ben Hall is another of these. This horse is the highest on official ratings in this field and we feel that it is much more capable that what has previously been achieved. He got off the mark at the second attempt back in June at Haydock and has far from been disgraced when giving a good account of himself the last twice, in stronger contests. He is sure to come here raring to go for leading trainer John Gosden, and with William Buick up, looks the pick of these to land this healthy prize pot.

3.15 Doncaster – DFS Park Hill Stakes (Fillies' Group 2) (Class 1) 1m6f132y

Win Selection – Seal of Approval @ 3/1 with Paddy Power

James Fanshawe’s filly is probably the most progressive filly on the Doncaster card tomorrow. She has won her last three starts, and stayed on very well to lead near the finish in a Newbury Listed race last time over the shorter distance of a mile and a half. The step up in trip is expected to play to her strengths, and with her trainers yard in flying form, we think she can go one better and take this Group Two DFS Park Hill Stakes.
