AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am 2014 – Golf Betting Tips & Predictions – A fantastic line-up of players, playing over 3 great golf courses should make for great viewing, @chrismunney sets the scene for us below, then gives us his golf betting tips for the week – 4 Win tips, 1 Each way selection.

Well last week was a bit unfortunate. Believe we capped it well but Sunday just did not cooperate. Plus Ryan Moore’s birdie putt at 18 did a 540 degree turn that would have put him in 5th place. But those are the breaks. On to the next week.

This week the PGA TOUR will stop in the beautiful Monterrey peninsula in Northern California. The tournament will be very similar to the Humana in that the first 3 rounds will be played over 3 courses with a Saturday cut. Pebble Beach will be the final course on Sunday for those who do make that cut. Spyglass Hill, Monterrey Peninsula Country Club (Shore Course), and Pebble Beach will be played over the 1st 3 days by all the golfers. These courses are relatively easy courses on TOUR and Pebble does not play nearly as difficult as it does during a U.S. Open. Big hitters have a bit of an advantage here as these courses are pretty short and can be a bit overpowered. Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson are both multiple winners here. Some course stats:

Pebble Beach – Par 72 – 6800 Yards

Spyglass Hill – Par 72 – 7000 Yards

Monterrey Peninsula – Par 70 – 6800 Yards

The tournament’s roots date back all the way to 1937. The pro-am format will bring out celebrities from across all walks. Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Kid Rock, and Andy Garcia are a few notables that will tee it up this week.

A lot of big names have taken the week off as only 2 of the top 10 players in the world are in the field this week. Not really sure the cause of that, but we will try to take advantage of the weaker field.

SELECTIONS

Jason Day to Win – 12/1 Betfred – Open a new Betfred account by clicking this link and get a free £25 bet.

Jason is coming off an impressive 2nd place finish out in San Diego 2 weeks ago and a top 10 finish here last year. A big hitter off the tee and a player who can go low as that will certainly be needed this week. Day has played in this tournament 4 times. He has 4 made cuts and 2 top 10s.

Dustin Johnson to Win – 12/1 William Hill – Open a new William Hill account by clicking this link and get a free £25 bet.

I haven’t been backing Dustin a lot lately. Mostly because he seems to spend most his time off the course with his new love crush. But as time as gone on, Dustin has played better golf. This course suits Dustins’ game very well and it shows as he is a 2x champion here. He has 2 top 10s in his last 2 starts as well. With a good short game, he should be near the top of the leaderboard on Sunday.

Hunter Mahan to Win – 18/1 Coral – Open a new Coral account by clicking this link bet just £5 and get a free £20 bet!

Mahan was playing some amazing golf last year and then his wife delivered their first child and his game suffered a bit. After the off-season though, Mahan looks more focused than ever and had a very impressive showing last week in the Waste Management. Mahan has placed top 20 in his last 3 starts here with a 2nd place finish in 2011. Great in total driving (8th in 2013) and a good putter as well. Mahan can find success here.

Jordan Spieth to Win – 20/1 Sporting Bet – Open a new Sporting Bet account by clicking this link and get a ‘Risk Free’ £50 bet.

By now, Spieth is no secret. I am backing him here because of what happened to him at the Farmers. After a blazing start, he suffered some serious adversity on Sunday and finished 19th. That’s a huge learning experience. It is very similar to Rory blowing the lead with a Sunday 80 at the 2011 Masters and coming back and obliterating the field at the US Open months later. Spieth should be focused. And he’s got the game to win.

Patrick Reed e/w – 40/1 Ladbrokes – Open a new Ladbrokes account by clicking this link, and get a £50 free bet!

Value play here. With a seemingly weak field, Reed has a chance to make some noise. PR finished 7th here last year in his first start in this tournament. With now 2 PGA Tour wins under his belt, Reed should feel comfortable on the weekend. Another big hitter with the ability to go low.

Good Luck all.
