Manuel Pellegrini takes top of the table Man City to The Potteries for the early kick off on Saturday. The Citizens are looking to cement their place at the summit after Man United and Leicester both dropped points following their draw last weekend.

Manchester City may well be leading the way in the Premier League, but it's mainly thanks to the poor performances of others. Man United are performing as excitingly as beige corduroys, whereas whilst Leicester City are banging them in at one end, they're leaving the garden gate wide open at the other.

Furthermore, Arsenal are beginning to pick up their customary mid-season injuries, and so Arsene Wenger has the ready-made excuse needed for some lackluster displays.

Pellegrini's side have only won 2 from their last 5, and their away form is very similar to Stoke's this season. If you were just going on away form this campaign, City would be in eighth, whereas Stoke would be a point above them in seventh, albeit having played two more away games than The Sky Blues.

Both City and Stoke booked places in the Capital One Cup Semi Finals midweek, and it will be interesting to see whether fatigue might be a factor in both side's performances in the early kick off.

City have failed to win in their last 3 away games, and with Stoke's form improving, I envisage a pretty close game at The Britannia. Pellegrini may also be without the firepower of Sergio Aguero due to a heel problem, and even with the Argentine in the team City have only managed to score once in their last 3 away from The Etihad.

Stoke, as ever, are inconsistent, but when facing the big boys they very rarely shirk away from a battle. Vincent Kompany is almost definitely out, whereas Joe Hart is still a doubt for match, meaning that Stoke definitely have a chance.

With injuries curtailing the quality of this Man City side, as well as their inconsistent away form, I think it could be a very close run match in Stoke. I think the home side will keep things tight, and given both team's midweek exertions, I doubt that it will be a high scoring affair.
