2.40pm Newcastle

The Chipchase Stakes for 3yo’s and older over 6f gets us underway on Saturday.  The official ratings look to say it all and the clear pick is SAAYERR (3/1 William Hill).  This horse has proven Group class form after winning the Group 2 Richmond Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last season and has the benefit of not having to carry a penalty for that victory, as well as receiving the weight for age allowance.  His one length second place finish to the Guineas fourth and Irish Guineas second – Shifting Power is form which far surpasses that of his rivals.  The trip and ground should pose no concerns and a reproduction of his recent form will be enough to see him claim this contest.

Of the others, Danzeno has every right to run well but was beaten comfortably off a high weight at York last time.  The negatives that surround this horse include the ground as the majority of his wins have come on softish ground and he will need to improve on his handicap form.  Body And Soul has been running some very good races in handicap company but will need to improve on her Group race record to be able to land a blow here.  Based on the ratings, Mass Rally looks to be the main danger to the selection and he ran a massive race when 4th in the Group 2 Duke Of YorkStakes.  Despite that form, he too prefers soft ground and conditions are likely to be less than ideal.

Betting Tip – SAAYERR (WIN) (3/1 William Hill)

4.50pm Curragh

In the Group 2 GAIN Railway Stakes, Ahlan Emarati arrives here after having finished third in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot behind Baitha Alga.  The form of the race doesn’t look as strong as the other Royal Ascot form on show in this race and others are preferred.  Aiden O’Brien has won this race 10 times in the past but hasn’t won it in 4 years and that is likely to continue as his main hope War Envoy will have to turn form around with a couple here.

One such horse is Kool Kompany who won some decent races before  flopping at Ascot and will need to make serious ground up on the selection CAPPELLA SANSEVERO (2/1 bet365).  The Ger Lyons charge was bought by Qatar Racing and has clearly shown his class by routing a field in a Listed race at the course and then going on to finish second in the Coventry.  The form of that race looks to be extremely strong and I fully expect Cappella Sansevero to rout this field before going on to better things.

Betting Tip – CAPPELLA SANSEVERO (WIN)(NAP) (2/1 bet365)
