Belgium v USA 9pm GMT

Second up is Belgium’s match against the USA, Belgium are another side who came through qualification with 9 points but far from impressed. They had to come from behind to beat Algeria before a late winner gave them a 1-0 win in an awful match against Russia. Finally, against a really poor South Korea side they wrapped up another 1-0 win despite being on ten men. Most of their goals came late on and they will not be taking anything for granted against the USA.

USA have been a bit of a surprise package so far, expected to finish bottom of their group they were lively and exciting and took an impressive 4 points in a tough group. Their opening win against Ghana was vital and only a last minute equaliser saw them not take another 3 against Portugal. The Germans had too much for them in the final match but they have plenty of positives to take forward in to the knockout phases.

Belgium relied on substitutes and late goals to get them out of the group and they didn’t play the brand of football many expected.
