Argentina v Switzerland Betting Tips and Predictions

The penultimate Last 16 World Cup match sees Argentina play Switzerland at 5pm on Tuesday and we have free World Cup 2014 betting tips.

The last 16 of this year’s World Cup has provided almost as much drama as the group stages with penalty shootouts and late goals galore. Hoping for an easier ride in to the Quarter-Finals than their South American Counter-Parts Brazil are Argentina.

The Argies are one of the tournament favorites still at this stage despite some less than impressive performances. 9 points were picked up in the group stages but in far from convincing style. An early goal against Bosnia in game week one and a great Messi strike was enough to win that one but it took a very late Messi goal to see off a resilient Iran side.

Argentina’s biggest worry will be how easily Nigeria broke down their defence in the final group match before they eventually came out 3-2 winners. The main man has been Lionel Messi so far and his moments of brilliance have been their saving grace on more than one occasion. Sergio Aguero is now ruled out with injury but he hasn’t quite performed to his own high standards of yet.

Switzerland’s group stage was also a little bit of a mixed bag, they came from behind and scored a last minute winner to beat Ecuador in their opener before being thrashed 5-2 by France in their second game. They finished up by beating group whipping boys Honduras 3-0 though to get to this stage. Quite frankly, they beat the two teams they should have done but were soundly beaten by the only other quality side in their group in France. This could be a real worry as they take on an Argentina side with loads of quality that haven’t quite fulfilled their full potential.

Both of these sides know how to find the net, Switzerland managed 6 goals in their 2 group games while Argentina got the same. Both though aren’t particularly secure looking at the back, Switzerland conceding 5 against France highlighted this well. This could go to extra-time, the draw isn’t out of the question, Argentina should do it but there is no guarantee. I fancy both teams to score at a nice looking 10/11 with William Hill.
