Colombia v Ivory Coast 5pm GMT

We begin with the two sides who opened their Group C campaigns with wins in week one – Colombia and Ivory Coast. Colombia were ruthless against Greece and came away with a resounding 3-0 win while Ivory Coast showed their class to come from behind and beat Japan 2-1.

While both sides were impressive going forward, neither were that impressive at the back. If Greece’s forwards were more precise in front of goal, they could have easily grabbed a goal against Colombia while Ivory Coast have now failed to keep a clean sheet in eight consecutive matches – both teams scoring in all of them.

With the likes of Rodriguez, Martinez, Aguilar, Guttierez, Drogba, Gervinho and Bony likely to be on display there is no shortage of attacking talent here. Both teams to score is available at 10/11 with William Hill and is the best bet for this game especially considering Ivory Coast’s form at both ends of the pitch.

England v Uruguay 8PM GMT

This is without a doubt the big one on Thursday with World Cup places on the line. Both sides lost their opening matches and now need a win to have any chance of qualifying.

Uruguay were shocked 3-1 by a quick and strong Costa Rica side and they simply didn’t show up. They have Luis Suarez back for this match but the big question is just how fit he is for this match. They really didn’t impress last time out and if they lose, they know they go home and will still have Italy to come.

England took a lot of positives from the defeat to Italy with Raheem Sterling looking very dangerous especially. They were outclassed by the likes of Andrea Pirlo and Antonio Candreva but if they perform how they did, do have a chance here.

Uruguay were very slow and didn’t cope with pace well – something England have a lot of, with Rooney being moved to the middle he could now be more effective.  An England win is 6/5 with William Hill and worth taking.

Japan v Greece Betting Tips 11pm

Both of these sides also lost their opening games but this time in Group C. Japan threw away a lead to lose 2-1 to Ivory Coast while Greece were thrashed 3-0 by Colombia.

This game is interesting, Japan have only kept 2 clean sheets in their last 20 matches while Greece have only scored once in their last 5 matches. Greece are strong at the back though but don’t score many goals, they have drawn 2 of their last 5 0-0.

Japan could only put one goal past a porous Ivory Coast defence so maybe they aren’t as strong as I think going forward and goals may be at a premium here, they often are with the Greeks.

Under 1.5 goals is my final bet for this night at 9/4 with Bet365.
