West Brom v Chelsea Match Preview & Betting Tips

West Brom host Jose Mourinho's Chelsea in the Sunday lunchtime kick off and three weeks ago if you had said that by now these two teams would both just have one point and West Brom would have conceded fewer goals than Chelsea you wouldn't have been believed. Chelsea's poor start to the season however has made this a reality and made this game an absolute must win game for the Londoners. If Chelsea do not take maximum points from the Hawthorns then they could find themselves seven points behind pace setters Manchester City and if that happens Chelsea's title aspires will effectively be over in August.

In an attempt to ensure this doesn't happen Chelsea have been busy in the transfer market. John Stones hasn't yet been lured away from Everton but left back Baba Rahman came in minutes after the defeat to Manchester City and then Manchester United were gazumped out of the signing of ex-Barcelona man Pedro. Whatever the long term effects of these signings right now Chelsea have some serious issues. It seems like father time may have caught up with Captain John Terry. Diego Costa has hamstring issues and the papers cannot stop talking about which physio is going to be sitting in the dugout.

As for WBA having one point after two games isn't such an issue. The defeat at home to Man City is to be expected and a draw away from home to Watford is just the sort of result that Tony Pulis specialises in achieving. Outside of the actual games West Brom will welcome new signing Rondon for his home debut and for the moment seem to have fended off Spur's pursuit of Saido Berahino.

Chelsea are favourites because they are Chelsea. They should beat teams like the Baggies because, they have more quality then them. At the moment though Chelsea are miles away from being match fit and I fancy that WBA could spring a shock here. West Brom or the draw is available at 7/5 with Bet365 and you can't say fairer than that.

As a second tip I'm looking at the half time result. If you don't quite fancy West Brom to the last the 90 minutes then betting on them over 45 minutes is the safer option. The half time draw is available at 6/5 with bet365.

Half Time Result – Draw – 6/5 Bet365

As a final tip, I'm looking at the anytime goalscorer market. Eden Hazard may not have done much so far this season but he is up there with Aguero for the title of best in the Premier League. Hazard to score anytime is available at 13/8 with Skybet.

Hazard – Anytime Goalscorer — 13/8 Skybet
