2.00 Doncaster

The first leg of our accumulator tip comes in a Nursery over 7 furlongs where ONLY JOKING (11/4 Coral) looks a progressive horse with the talent necessary to claim this prize. Hugo Palmer has been in good form of late and his Aussie Rules filly can go on to take this after bolting up in a Thirsk maiden. She also finished only four lengths behind Albany Stakes winner Cursory Glance at Kempton and she can win this under the guidance of top jockey William Buick. Salateen finished in fifth place in the Acomb and rates the main danger along with When Will It End who will be fancied to continue the fine record of Richard Hannon with his two-year-olds.

2.30 Doncaster

Moving on to an interesting Conditions race over 6 furlongs and despite only having 5 runners it looks a competitive contest. Angelic Lord will be well fancied after his run in the July Stakes and clearly has the best form on offer but, GROWL (6/1 Ladbrokes) could well improve enough to win. The Brian Meehan colt impressed on debut but was given an easy ride when it was clear he wasn’t going to win the Acomb. If he can reproduce the turn of foot he showed on debut he could well take advantage of the likely tactical nature of this small field.

3.00 Doncaster

The Scarbrough Stakes is the highlight of Day 1 of the meeting and is a Listed race over five furlongs. A lot of decent types are lining up here dropping down from better company including Steps and Kingsgate Native. Neverthless, this contest looks to revolve around RECKLESS ABANDON (9/4 William Hill) and his ability to recapture the best of his form. Now under the care of Charlie Appleby, the once champion 2yo should relish the step back to 5f after being narrowly caught out on return at Newmarket last month. If he reproduces anywhere near the class he had in his younger days then he should win quite comfortably.
