2.10 Doncaster

This year’s renewal of the Group 3 Sceptre Stakes over seven furlongs looks to be an extremely competitive contest.

AMAZING MARIA (25/1 Ladbrokes) has been disappointing this season after not placing in any of her two starts. However she was very well fancied for the 1,000 Guineas early this season thanks to her two-year-old effort when romping home in a Group 3 at Goodwood. Last time out, the selection struggled on the soft ground in France, and, back on better ground, she should run well at what looks to be a significantly inflated price.

Of her rivals, Bragging cruised home in a handicap last time at York, however this contest looks much more difficult and, although Joyuese is a solid performer, she looks more exposed than some.

2.40 Doncaster

The Group 2 Park Hills Stakes boasts 14 runners and CRITERIA (8/1 Betfred) looks set to run a solid effort. John Gosden's three-year-old put in a superb effort in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot, the form of which has been franked by the winner Bracelet who has since gone on to win a Group 1. The trainer has been in solid form all season and, with the horse receiving a weight-for-age advantage, she should be in the mix.

Seal Of Approval is a former Group 1 winner and looks like she will be the main danger. After two poor runs earlier in the season, she was a close third last time out against male opposition and should find this task much easier against her own sex.
