2.10 Doncaster

Brian Meehan is a trainer I have a lot of time for and, although this is a very competitive renewal, I know he thinks he has J WONDER (7/1 bet365) back to her very best. She won first time out for the season at Newbury in the Fred Darling Stakes but disappointed in the French 1,000 Guineas and again in the Coronation Stakes when she looked as though she failed to see out the mile. Brian insists that is not the case but I can only make my own judgement and prefer to back her over this seven furlongs which she gets with ease.

3.15 Doncaster

Richard Hannon Senior was the master of taking these valuable sales races and I would be surprised if his son has lost any of those skills. LEXINGTON TIMES (8/1 Coral) has won once and placed four times this season finishing half length third to the well regarded Aktabantay in the Group Three Solario Stakes on his latest start at Sandown. The drop back to six furlongs at a fast pace is very much on his side and he should prove difficult to keep out of the first three at least.

3.45 Doncaster

Anyone who fails to note the good form of John Gosden this season will be poorer for their ignorance and he may have another good one on his hands with LONG CROSS (4/1 Coral) who seems to be an improving type. After a debut fourth at Newbury, when not given too hard a time of things, he followed up with a very easy victory in a Newmarket maiden (runner-up has franked the form since), and a rated of 90 may well underestimate him.

5.00 Doncaster

A tricky maiden to conclude today’s Lucky 15 tip. Richard Hannon again for me here with the once raced KING OF NORMANDY (6/1 Ladbrokes) who interestingly was sent all the way to Deauville for his first run. Fourth in a maiden, the form of which is unknown, it seems reasonable to assume they think a lot of him to warrant entering him here in a quality maiden. Whilst his breeding does suggest he will improve with his racing and handle any cut in the ground, he should run well.
