The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale Betting Tips

Ultimate Fighter 18.jpg

UFC betting tips: The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale takes place tonight. Saturday 30th November and we have free fight previews and MMA betting tips for tonight's event.

Whether we like to admit it or not, everyone loves a bit of reality T.V – you only have to browse tomorrow’s schedule with Strictly, I’m a Celeb and X-Factor dominating the primetime slots to see that. Once all the singing and dancing is done, Saturday night will also see the finale of the 18th instalment of The Ultimate Fighter hit our screens.

To those new to MMA, The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) tournament sees 16 fighters put into a knockout tournament with the winner getting a 6 figure UFC contract. The twist is while they’re competing in this tournament the fighters must all eat, sleep and train in the same household. Sound better than watching Gary Barlow drone on? Yeah, I think so to. As well as providing some top-notch entertainment there are some very juicy betting opportunities on tomorrow night’s finale. Here are my betting tips.

Chris Holdsworth vs Davey Grant Betting Tips

The finale of the Bantamweight tournament sees American Chris Holdsworth taking on Davey Grant and, though I feel bad for backing against the Brit (particularly as he follows me on twitter), I believe Holdsworth should leave with his hand raised. Holdsworth trains with team Alpha Male – one of MMA’s most successful teams – and working alongside the killers they have in that gym gives him a definite edge. Combine this with his speed and athletic advantage over Grant and I believe he is a good bet. Add Holdsworth to the first part of our double @ 8/15 with William Hill.

Gray Maynard vs Nate Diaz Betting Tips

In what is technically the third time these two have met Gray Maynard has a definite edge for me. He won the most recent fight and was dominating their first fight only to be caught in Diaz’ speciality triangle choke. While both fighters definitely seem to be in a decline in their career, I definitely think Gray is by far the more dangerous of the two – brutishly stronge for a lightweight wish vastly improved striking skills and high-level collegiate wrestling. He should definitely be able to live up to his nickname and ‘Bully’ the younger Diaz brother. The betting line for this fight has been interesting as Diaz – surprisingly – opened as a very marginal favourite though action on Gray has seen him become the favourite. I still feel there is value there though. Add Maynard as the second part of our double @ 4/5 with Paddy Power

Double on Chris Holdsworth and Gray Maynard 2.76/1 with Paddy Power.

Rani Yahya vs Tom Ninimaki Betting Tips

Normally it is best to avoid backing a fighter who is making their UFC debut. A guy could have a perfect record and look like a world-beater outside of the UFC only to be outclassed in MMA’s premier promotion. However, based on the footage I have seen of Ninimaki I believe he should have little trouble dealing with Yahya. Yahya is a high-calibre Brazilian Jiu Jitsu but lacks the wrestling to get Ninimaki to the ground. Ninimaki has fought and beat fighters who have previously been signed by the UFC and so shouldn’t feel overwhelmed by his octagon debut. A steal at dog odds.
