Sunderland vs Stoke City Betting Tips – Don’t bank on goals

Sunderland will aim to bounce back from the 6-1 hammering they received at the hands of Aston Villa last week, although with the absence of Steven Fletcher and Stephane Sessegnon it is hard to see where the goals are going to come from for Paulo Di Canio’s side.  The Black Cats have failed to score in three of their last six home league matches, and it would be little surprise to see the home side draw yet another blank tonight.

Stoke sit three points above Sunderland and are probably safe from relegation, but manager Tony Pulis will be keen to pick up another couple of points just to be sure.  The Potters have won their last two league matches and should approach this match reasonably confident of getting a point.

The last two meetings between these sides have seen just one goal scored, and given Sunderland’s lack of striking options along with their opponent’s preference for low-scoring matches (Stoke have lost three of their last five matches by a single goal), I reckon this game has 0-0 written all over it.  I also think it is wise to back the draw as well as under 1.5 goals.
