Premier League Preview for 13 & 14 April

This weekend in the Premier League is likely to be another enthralling ride for fans and punters alike, with some cracking games to look forward to as the conclusion to the season draws ever closer.

There are five fixtures on Saturday, and to start with, fifth-placed Arsenal host relegation-threatened Norwich City knowing that a victory will see them leap-frog both Spurs and Chelsea into third position in the league table.  Aston Villa have a massive home fixture against Fulham as they aim to claw themselves clear of trouble near the foot of the table, whilst the likely-doomed QPR travel to Merseyside to face top-four contenders Everton.  Elsewhere bottom-of-the table Reading face a difficult home match against Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool, whilst Southampton welcome West Ham United to St Mary’s in a match that both sides really need to win to ensure survival.

The pick of the weekend’s fixtures is at lunchtime on Sunday as Newcastle United host fierce rivals Sunderland.  And what better way for new manager Paulo Di Canio to become a hero of the Sunderland support than if he can deliver a much-needed victory at St James’ Park.  Later that same afternoon, Champions-elect Manchester United visit Stoke City, who like many around them are flirting with relegation, with Sir Alex Ferguson knowing that three points for United takes them another step closer to securing the title.
