We will start with ST MORITZ in the 2.20pm at Sandown where the horse is looking to make it three on the bounce for bang in form trainer David O’Meara.  The beauty of this selection is that he still carries less weight than he did at his peak and, as O’Meera seems to have got him back near his best, even at the age of eight he could be well in at the weights!

Regulars will have worked out by now that I am a big fan of the William Haggas yard and, unless FURY has completely lost his love for the game, the six year-old is very well weighted ahead of the 2.40pm at York this afternoon.  At his best he was rated as highly as 107 yet he gets in here off a mark over a stone lower.  With two runs under his belt he should be cherry ripe today and could pull off a bit of a shock under jockey Frankie Dettori.

Backing a first time out winner from the Charlie Appleby yard has been a bigger risk than normal this year with so many looking to improve for the run.  However, the profile of STRATEGICAL is impossible to ignore for our lucky 15 betting tip ahead of the three year-old sprint at 2.55pm at Sandown and they may yet have a speedball on their hands. After finishing second at Haydock on his debut he picked up three races in a row, learning with each run, and, if he has trained on (we are guessing of course), then he could well be above average over five furlongs or six.

Lastly, and back to the Haggas yard, my bet of the day has to be on the lightly raced ZARAEE in the 3.50pm from York.  This horse needs forgiving for his last efforts over seven furlongs at Doncaster when probably over the top for the season.  Dropped back to six furlongs today he looks to have Betimes to beat (no easy task), but receives 8lbs from the filly and could be worth the risk – though be warned, it won’t be an easy day to find too many winners!
