As if we weren't spoilt enough at the weekend, the Premier League returns for some midweek action. Liverpool hosting Sunderland, the perfect tonic to get you through the 9 to 5 grind, put your feet up and have a flutter because we have some free football betting tips for you.
Four points behind leaders Chelsea, Wednesday night's match is Liverpool's game in hand and a fantastic opportunity to cut the lead down to one point. The Reds are in electric form at present, unbeaten in the league for eleven games with straight wins in the last six. They face a Sunderland side that have stumbled of late, despite a promising start under Gus Poyet and two excellent cup runs, the Black Cats currently find themselves in the relegation zone. With only one point and one goal from their last four games, form is not on their side. Defeats in key games with fellow strugglers have hurt and the recalling of on loan Conor Wickham just screams desperation. One has to feel for Jozy Altidore, all the hard work and endeavour can't paper over the fact he just couldn't even finish his dinner.
Browsing the early prices doesn't make particularly good reading for anyone trying to sniff out a bit of value. Liverpool are on offer at 2/11, so unless you fancy remortgaging the house, I would just keep this in an accumulator. Sunderland can be backed at an incredible 18/1, looks terrific value on paper but they are that price for a reason, they won't win. The draw is available at 8/1 but even this looks a little far-fetched. However, one slight chink of light for Sunderland might be Liverpool's perpetual defensive lapses. Particularly at Anfield, Brendon Rodgers men have been guilty of letting in the odd goal, they even conceded three at relegation threatened Cardiff last week. Nonetheless, Liverpool are also the highest scorers in the league and have a formidable record at Anfield. The very fact centre back Martin Skrtel has more league goals than Fernando Torres says it all. With this in mind, a Liverpool win and both teams to score is well priced at 7/4 with Coral. A little risky, yes, but with only a 38% record for home clean sheets it is a statistically viable option.
Looking elsewhere, this game is tailor made for Betfred's 'DD/HH' offer. Luis Suarez has some truly horrid odds of 13/8 to score first, Daniel Sturridge isn't much better at 2/1. However, given the nature of the promotion, the form of Suarez and the small fact that Liverpool have an 86% record for scoring first at Anfield, back him to open the scoring with Betfred at 13/8. Furthermore, back a Liverpool win with both of the SAS scoring at 2/1 with William Hill.
Finally for a little bit of a longshot, in the corresponding game at the Stadium of Light earlier this season, Liverpool ran out 3-1 winners. This game featured 18 corners. Combine this with the fact Sunderland have the worst record in the Premier League for red cards, William Hill are offering 18/1 on over 12 corners and over six cards in Wednesday's match. This bet would have been a winner in Sunderland's defeat to Norwich at the weekend, it could be a winner again.
