2.05 Newcastle

 

KIMBERELLA (11/1 William Hill) was sent off a very well backed 13/8 favourite in a competitive handicap last time and is certainly capable of better off 1lb lower.  Pipers Note and Muthmir were both successful sprinters in their three year-old campaigns and should be capable of better this year but they will need to be cherry ripe on their seasonal debuts.

 

Tarooq has always saved his best for the all-weather where he is rated 20lbs higher than on turf.  This quicker ground will certainly suit and his sole turf success has come at Newcastle so he has to be considered.

2.20 Newmarket

 

Accipiter wasn't fancied on her debut but she travelled in a manner of a smart sort, winning comfortably in the end.  Littlemissblakeney hasn't tried six furlongs yet but her fifth in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot is probably the strongest form on offer.

 

Parsley and Tigrilla were both wide margin winners last time out with cut in the ground, they deserve respect despite having something to prove on this much quicker surface.  The vote though goes to ZEB UN NISA (10/3 Coral) who destroyed a Bath maiden.  On a form line through La Cuesta she has the beating of Littlemissblakeney who looks the main threat.

2.40 Newcastle

 

A tight looking Group 3 sprint where Mass Rally and Body And Soul are the pick of the older horses.  Both should go well but are ideally suited by a little more cut and may have to give best to their three year-old rivals.

 

Danzeno was all the rage for a big York handicap a fortnight ago, getting worked up in the stalls and missing the kick as a consequence.  He then ran too keen to do himself justice and should do better.  SAAYERR (3/1 Coral) did well to get as close to Shifting Power as he did first time up this season trying to give that rival weight.  He is very interesting and is the one to best at the weights.

2.55 Newmarket

 

Gatewood has been in good form this season but he has to shoulder a penalty and faces fast ground for the first time since his three year-old campaign.  Battalion is the one to beat at the weights but ran poorly at Newbury last time so SHEIKHZAYEDROAD (4/1 Ladbrokes), who has risen through the handicap ranks to make up into a solid pattern performer, is the pick.

3.15 Newcastle

 

The winning run of Victoire De Lyphar ended last time when breaking a blood vessel.  This demands more but he deserves a tilt at this decent prize.  

 

Dream Walker, FOXTROT ROMEO (6/1 SkyBet) and Farlow have all been in good form in similar races with the preference marginally for the middle named who showed much more last time than he has for a while and should be more than capable off this mark.

3.30 Newmarket

 

Another tricky puzzle with the majority of the field appreciating a bit more cut than they are likely to get here.  GARSWOOD (9/2 SkyBet) is interesting in the first time headgear having been very disappointing this season.  He looked lazy at Haydock last time and the blinkers could be the making of him.

 

Gregorian and Tawhid were both disappointing on their returns and should be sharper now.  The latter especially who ran well behind Garswood until getting tired but he does have a habit of finding one too good so Richard Fahey's raider gets one more chance.

3.50 Newcastle

 

Repeater is not the most consistent but has been running well recently in Listed races.  Suegioo and Angel Gabriel fought out the finish in the Chester Cup with the latter now better off at the weights and a revelation since being stepped up in trip.  Big Thunder was a rapid improver last year and while this looks tricky on his return, he should be primed for a big run.

 

DARK CRUSADER (10/1 William Hill) has been campaigned over inadequate trips this season and looks well enough handicapped now stepped-up.  Brian Ellison has been noted saying that he thinks Totalize is still well handicapped after bolting up in a York handicap and he is an interesting runner.
