Germany v Ghana Betting Tips

Germany will hope to carry on their impressive form on Saturday and we have free World Cup 2014 betting tips.

Thus far in this World Cup we have seen some impressive displays and none more so than Germany’s performance against Portugal. Some will argue that the sending off of Pepe, following his head butt on Thomas Muller, effectively ended the game as a spectacle, however, by then Germany were already 2-0 up and totally outplayed a talented Portugal side. For me the 7/2 with William Hill and Bet365 about Germany to win the World Cup looks a good bet at this stage.

Such is the confidence in their overall ability; the Germans were able to leave the likes of Schweinsteiger, Podoski, Draxler and Miroslav Klose on the bench for the Portugal game. Even without a recognised striker in the starting line-up they created plenty of chances with the likes of Ozil, Muller, Goetze and Kroos linking up well together with quick passing and movement that opened up the Portuguese defence.

So far in the tournament we have seen plenty of attacking football, which is a testament to the array of talent on display in the final third. That said, unlike some of the other more fancied teams in the competition so far, Germany showed that they have a solid defence to compliment their undoubted attacking talent. With arguably the best Goalkeeper in the tournament, a solid back four and a protective barrier of Lahm and Khedira in the centre of midfield it will be hard to see many teams able to breach this German defence.

Ghana on the other hand were stunned by the USA in their opening game and have left themselves a mountain to climb if they harbour any aspirations of repeating their quarter final appearance of four years ago in South Africa. In, what looked on paper, to be a very tough Group G, the Ghanaians would have been looking to bag three points in their opening game against the US to give themselves the best chance of progressing from the Group.

Rocked by a Clint Dempsey after just 29 seconds, the Ghanaians fought back with some impressive forward play from Gyan and the Ayew brothers to get themselves in the position to at least take a point from the game. However, at a point in the game where they were on top and looked the more likely to get the winner, they were undone by a well-worked US corner. They will now have to get something from this game on Saturday in Fortaleza to give them any chance of qualification going into the final round of Group games against Portugal.

This looks to be quite a one-sided contests going on their opening match performances. Germany are renowned for producing their best in big tournaments and look good at 7/2 to win the World Cup. There is no value in backing them to win this match, as 3/10 is a short price unless you stake for big money. The value, therefore, could be in the Handicap market and Germany (-2) at 2/1 with Bet365 looks the way to go. Fresh from his hatrick in the first game Thomas Muller to score the first goal at 10/3 also with Bet365 is the one to be on.
