The first classic of the season is upon us in the form of the 2000 Guineas. The Group 1 contested for the best three-year-old's over one mile is always a highly popular betting event and we have tips from Newmarket and Goodwood.

Weekend Horse Racing Tips:

14.00 Newmarket

The opener of the Guineas card comes via the way of a 12 runner handicap and Bronze Angel can get his season started. This six-year-old was a star in handicaps last season, winning both the Cambridgeshire and the Balmoral before finishing third in a Group 3. After two decent efforts carrying top-weight this term, this son of Dark Angel will be fit and raring to go at a track he's performed well at in the past.

14.15 Goodwood

John Gosden has hit the ground running this season saddling over ten winners in the past two weeks and Criteria can extend his winning streak. This four-year-old was a progressive filly last season, finishing third in the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot behind Bracelet, who went and won the Irish Oaks. Sired by Galileo, she should be suited to the quick ground at Newbury and should have progressed nicely through the winter.

14.30 Newmarket

Sole Power has took this for the last two season's however his absence makes it highly competitive. Just two of these have already had a run this season and I' siding with Watchable out of the pair. David O'Meara is one of the most improving trainers in the sport and he looks to have this son of Pivotal going in the right direction. The selection began his season at Newmarket where he was just beaten by the smart Astaire. With a run under his belt, he will have a distinct fitness advantage on his rivals and is the one to beat.

14.50 Goodwood

Nothing stands out on form in this contest, so it could be a horse who's got form at the home racing who's takes the spoils. Red Avenger certainly meets that criteria and should be amongst the places. He has a 66% place-rate at the course and was just three lengths behind in a competitive renewal of the Spring Cup earlier this season.

15.05 Newmarket

Telescope will be aimed at a number of Group 1 races this season and this looks an easy warm-up for him. Sir Michael Stout's five-year-old is one of the leading middle-distance horses in the country having won the Harwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot and finishing second in the King George giving plenty of weight to Taghrooda. This son-of-Galileo should relish conditions at a track he's won at before and Ryan Moore in the saddle is always a bonus.

15.25 Goodwood

This looks a difficult handicap to assess however Borderlessscott looks to have a decent chance. He may be well past his best having been a consistent Group performer, however, he still has plenty of class and should be capable of winning this.

15.45 Newmarket

The 2000 Guineas is always tough to pick a winner. Gleneagles is a strong favourite and rightly so, however, at the prices, you have to oppose. I was impressed with Estidkhaar last time out in the Greenham Stakes and he has the ability to go on and win this. Richard Hannon's charge was a fast finisher over seven furlongs last time out and would have likely caught winner Muhaarar if there was an extra one hundred yards. The further furlong should suit this son of Dark Angel and the track will be no problem having won the Superlative Stakes at the course last campaign.
