Ascot Horse Racing Trends (C4/ATR)

1.45 – Ascot Underwriting Novices´ Limited Handicap Chase Cl3 2m3f CH4

Just two previous runnings
Venetia William won the race 12 months ago
Paul Nicholls has a 25% record at the track with his chasers
Jamie Snowden has a 50% record with his chasers at the track
Daryl Jacob has a 29% record riding over fences at Ascot

FREE HORSE RACING TIP: Only two previous runnings here but the one we like is the last-time out winner and Gary Moore runner – VIKEKHAL(e/w) (Bet here at 8/1 with Coral). This horse hastwo good wins at Fontwell under it's belt of laste so heads here in tip-top form and despite needeing another step forward is taken to go close in his hat-trick bid.

Ulck Du Lin won the race 12 months ago
The average winning SP in the last 10 runnings is 15/2

Note: The 2005 running was staged at Ascot

FREE HORSE RACING TIP: Bullet Street was a good winner last time out and is respected and with most of these having their first run of the season then he’ll be fitter than most. However, Paul Nicholls’ ULCK DU LIN (e/w) (Bet here at 7/1 with Bet365) was a good winner of this race 12 months ago and despite being 15lbs higher this time has improved since. We last saw him winning by an easy 13 lengths at Wincanton back in April, but won this race off a break last year and jockey Harry Cobden, who won on him last time, takes off a handy 7lbs too.

2.50 -William Hill Handicap Hurdle (Listed Race) Cl1 2m CH4

11/11 – Aged between 4 and 6 years-old
11/11 – Won over at 2m or 2m1f over hurdles
10/11 – Yet to race at Ascot
8/11 – Won between 1-3 times over hurdles
8/11 – Having their first run of the season
7/11 – Unplaced in their last race
6/11 – Favourites placed
5/11 – Raced at Huntingdon (2) or Aintree (3) last time out
5/11 – Winning distance – 2 lengths or more
5/11 – Favourites (1 co, 1 joint)
4/11 – Won by a French bred horse
3/11 – Ridden by a conditional jockey
2/11 – Won by the Pipe stable
2/11 – Won by Paul Nicholls
2/11 – Won by the Nicky Henderson yard
2/11 – Ridden by AP McCoy
The average winning SP in the last 8 runnings is 6/1

FREE HORSE RACING TIP:  Trainer John Ferguson looks to have another good batch of horses this season to go to war with and actually won this race in 2013. Therefore, his former useful flat performer Nabucco will be popular. The horse has done little wrong when winning his last two in impressive fashion and his proven flat speed will be a huge asset against most of these. However, the Nicky Henderson team won this in 2008 and also 12 months ago with SIGN OF VICTORY (Bet here at 4/1 with Skybet). That same horse lines-up again and despite being 14lbs higher here has clearly improved since. He’s been running in Grade 1 & 2 contests and although he’s got to give a lot away is still the class act in the race and taken to follow-up his win in this race last season.

3.25 – Sodexo Gold Cup Handicap Chase (Grade 3) Cl1 3m CH4

11/11 – Won a chase race over at least 2 ½m before
9/11 – Didn’t win their last race
8/11 – Raced at Ascot before (4 won)
8/11 – Won at least 3 times over fences before
8/11 – Favourites unplaced
8/11 – Won a chase race over at least 3m before
7/11 – Carried 10-10 or more in weight
7/11 – Aged 8 or older
7/11 – Winning distance – 4 lengths or more
7/11 – Having their first run of the season
7/11 – Unplaced last time out
6/11 – Officially rated 135 to 138 inc
5/11 – Returned a double-figure price in the betting
3/11 – Won by the Pipe stable
2/11 – Raced at Sandown last time out
2/11 – Ridden by AP McCoy
2/11 – Favourites
The average winning SP in the last 9 runnings is 12/1
What A Warrior won the race 12 months ago
Houblon Des Obeaux won the race in 2013

FREE HORSE RACING TIP: At this stage the last two winners of this race are entered again. What A Warrior took the prize 12 months ago for the Dan Skelton team and off just a 5lb higher mark looks a big player again this time. Houblon Des Obeaux landed the race in 2013, but has improved bundles since and is now a massive 15lbs higher in the ratings. Venetia Williams’ horse is still one for the shortlist though after running second in the Denman Chase behind Coneygree, who, of course, went on to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup. However, PRESENT VIEW (e/w) (Bet here at 10/1 with Boylesports) is the call to get back on song for the Jamie Snowden team. He blew away the cobwebs last time at Chepstow but should be a lot better for that run and gets in here with a nice weight. Brendan Powell gets on well with the horse and the stable’s horses remain in decent order.

Wetherby Horse Racing Trends (C4/RUK)

2.00 –  bet365 West Yorkshire Hurdle (Grade 2) Cl1 3m26y CH4

13/13 – Won over at least 2m3f over hurdles before
12/13 – Won at least 3 times over hurdles before
12/13 – Priced 8/1 or shorter in the betting
11/13 – Won this on their seasonal reappearance
10/13 – Didn’t win last time out
10/13 – Favourites placed
10/13 – Officially rated 149 or higher
8/13 – Aged 6,7 or 8 years-old
8/13 – Raced at either Aintree (5) or Cheltenham (3) last time out
6/13 – Finished unplaced in their last race
6/13 – Won at Wetherby before
4/13 – Favourites
3/13 – Trained by Philip Hobbs
2/13 – Trained by Paul Nicholls
The average winning SP in the last 10 runnings is 4/1

FREE HORSE RACING TIP: Last year’s race was won by Cole Harden, who went onto land the Ladbrokes World Hurdle later in the season, so this year’s winner will be trying to follow in those hoof-prints. On these terms this looks to rest between Kilcooley and former Champion Hurdler Rock On Ruby. The younger KILCOOLEY (e/w) (Bet here at 7/1 with Ladbrokes) might be the call and looks an interesting runner now stepped up to 3m. He’ll love the softer ground, while the Longsdon yard have made a great start to the season. Rock On Ruby is not getting any younger at 10 years-old and this step up to 3m is a bit of an unknown too. However, he’ll not want it to get too much softer and hasn’t won first-time out now for the past three seasons.

2.30 – OLBG.com Mares´ Hurdle (Listed Race) Cl1 2m110y CH4

8 previous runnings
8/8 – Won over at least 2m1f over hurdles before
7/8 – Unplaced last time out
7/8 – Never raced at Wetherby
7/8 – Had between 2-5 previous hurdles wins to their name
7/8 – Were having their first run of the season
5/8 – Aged between 5-7 years-old
5/8 – Favourites placed
4/8 – Won a NH Flat race previously
4/8 – Raced at Punchestown last time out
3/8 – Favourites
2/3 – Trained by John Quinn
The average winning SP in the last 8 years is 4/1

FREE HORSE RACING TIP: Trainer Nicky Henderson won this race in 2008 and 2012 so his mare MA FILLEULE (Bet here at 9/4 with William Hill) looks to have an obvious chance. She’s the highest-rated in the field and after running in some hot races over fences last season it’s interesting connections revert her to hurdles. This division looks wide open this year and being rated a lot higher over fences should really be hard to beat here despite not being out for 205 days. Of the rest, Blue Buttons did well last term and can do best of the rest.

3.05 – bet365 Charlie Hall Chase (Grade 2) Cl1 3m1f CH4

12/13 – Having their first run of the season
11/13 – Priced 7/1 or shorter in the betting
11/13 – Won over at least 3m over fences
11/13 – Rated 151 or higher
10/13 – Aged 8 or older
9/13 – Raced at either Ayr (3), Aintree (4) or Cheltenham (2) last time out
9/13 – Favourites placed
9/13 – Won at least 4 times over fences before
8/13 – Aged 8 or 9 years-old
6/13 – Raced at Wetherby before (2 won)
6/13  – Placed 1st or 2nd last time out
3/13 – Favourites
2/13 – Ridden by Paul Moloney
2/13 – Trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies
2/13 – Trained by Evan Williams
Nigel Twiston-Davies has won the race in 1992, 1994, 2005 & 2007
The average winning SP in the last 13 runnings is 7/1

FREE HORSE RACING TIP: Some old favourites lining-up here, including the 2015 Aintree Grand National winner – Many Clouds. Oliver Sherwood’s 8 year-old has a good record fresh and despite having to give weight to some useful horses is will be a popular choice. Holywell often needs his first run back, while despite looking to have leading chances Ballynagour, Dynaste and Cue Card are all on somewhat of recovery missions. Irish Cavalier looks an improver but this company will be a whole new test. So that leaves us with last year’s winner MENORAH (e/w) (Bet here at 6/1 with Coral). This horse was a nice winner of this race 12 months ago first time out and with the Hobbs team going well at the moment then he looks a safe e/w option at a track we know he likes.

Down Royal Horse Racing Trends (ATR)

2.40 – JNwine.com Champion Chase (Grade 1) 3m CH4

11/13 – Won at least a Grade 2 Chase before
11/13 – Won at least 5 times over fences before
9/13 – Aged 8 or older
9/13 – Won over at least 3m over fences before
9/13 – Placed 1st or 2nd last time out
9/13 – Winning distance 2 ½ lengths or more
7/13 – Priced 4/1 or shorter in the betting
6/13 – Had won a Grade 1 Chase before
6/13 – Having their first run of the season (including 5 of last 6 winners)
5/13 – Favourites
5/13 – Raced at Down Royal before
4/13 – Raced at Aintree last time out
4/13 – Raced at Limerick last time out
4/13 – Trained by Paul Nicholls
3/13 – Won last time out
3/13 – Ridden by Ruby Walsh
2/13 – Trained by Arthur Moore
The average winning SP in the last 13 runnings is 5/1

FREE HORSE RACING TIP: Really on these terms DON COSSACK (Bet here at 2/7 with Skybet) should be hard to beat. This horse is one of the leading players for the main staying races this season, including the Cheltenham Gold Cup, where he’s currently around 8/1. He comes here off the back of a smooth reappearance win at Punchestown and being the clear highest-rated in the field will take all the beating here. Last year’s winner Road To Riches can give him most to think about.
