Valencia v Lyon – Valencia to score over 1.5 team goals

A short one but with Lyon out of form, it is very viable. Valencia will be buoyed by their 1-1 draw at home to Barcelona and the arrival of Gary Neville as head coach and they should put in a decent performance here in front of their own fans. Lyon have dropped down Ligue 1 recently with their poor form. After convincingly beating St Etienne 3-0, they've failed to win in their next four games, including three losses. Two of these have been at home, but they haven't scored in three of their last four matches and two of those have been away. They failed to stick anything past Nice, couldn't break down the Angers backline and were outscored by Montpellier. Prior to successive 1-1 draws at home, Valencia had stuck three past Levante & Malaga and they've scored at least two goals in both home matches in this competition so far.

Gent v Zenit St Petersburg – Zenit Draw No Bet

Can Zenit make it a clean sweep and make it 18 points from 18 in the group stages? I think they probably can. They have been far better in this competition than they have in their domestic league as AVB comes to terms with the fact he can't have all his foreign stars in the same team. No such worries in the Champions League, he can play who he likes and they are reaping the benefits. His side will benefit from having almost a week inbetween matches here as their domestic campaign takes a winter break. They beat Gent 2-1 in St Petersburg and they should be able to get another narrow win here. Gent are playing well, but they required a last gasp goal to save a point at home to Zulte Wagerem on Friday night and that suggests, they perhaps aren't as invincible as recent form suggests.

Bayer Leverkusen v Barcelona – Over 2.5 goals

Bayer Leverkusen have certainly brought the goals to this competition with their two previous home matches having 13 goals in them. Who could forget the 4-4 draw with Roma? Certainly not anybody who was witnessing it. Barcelona somehow failed to score more than one against Valencia at the weekend, but their opponents came to frustrate and it worked. I think this will be a far more open game with both sides going for it. Only one of Leverkusen's games has gone unders so far in the tournament and only one of their last six league games featured three or fewer goals in it. Barcelona – we know about their firepower and they could grab a few here to add to the goal total.

Olympiakos v Arsenal – Over 2.5 goals

Another game in which we believe there will be goals, especially considering Olympiakos' weekend result. After comfortably sailing through the match, there was a flurry of late goals and it ended 3-4. That was the second match in a row in which over 2.5 has landed. Only one of their Champions League matches has fallen under 2.5 and it seems likely this one will have plenty. Arsenal need a win to qualify and they'll be going all out to score. They can't really settle for a draw and will go at the Greeks. They put three past Sunderland at the weekend, dpesite an under-par performance and they always seem to concede. West Brom put two past them, Sunderland and Norwich both scored against them and they look a little vulnerable with their injuries. Similar to their opponents, they've only seen one UEFA Champions League game have three goals or fewer.

Dynamo Kiev v Bayern Munich – Bayern (-1) Handicap

Bayern may have lost at the weekend, but they'll be looking to bounce back here against the already eliminated Zagreb. The German side put five past this opponent at the Allianz and whilst it won't be as easy as that, I still think they will cover the handicap. They have plenty of firepower that they can draw upon and Frank Ribery is back and scored on his return. They've scored 17 goals in the five matches in the Champions League so far and with Zagreb battered and bruised from their encounter with Arsenal, they shouldn't find it too difficult to see off the Ukrainian side.
