Burnley v West Brom Betting Tips and Predictions

Football betting tips for the Premier League match this weekend between Burnley and West Ham, live on Sky Sports with free predictions.

Perhaps the most unfashionable tie of the Premier League weekend sees Burnley host West Brom on Sunday lunchtime. Tune in to Sky Sports at midday for what's likely to be a good, old fashioned six pointer. As always, here are some free football betting tips.

Burnley v West Brom Predictions:

After negotiating a difficult spell against some of the Premier League big-hitters, Burnley recorded an excellent home win over fellow strugglers QPR. However, this didn't seem to galvanise the team and The Clarets have since crashed out of the FA Cup and recorded back to back defeats against Crystal Palace and Sunderland. For Sean Dyche, the loss to Palace will have been a particularly difficult pill to swallow as it saw his team surrenderer a two goal lead for the second consecutive match.

Given the fact Burnley have started the last nine Premier League matches with the same team – a team they cover 2km more ground than any other side in the league with – it was imperative that they improve their squad during the January transfer window should they wish to bolster their chances of Premier League survival. However, with a transfer fund that rivals your average jackpot on a fruit machine, this has proved easier said than done. With several key deals folding like a deck of cards hours before the deadline, Sean Dyche will have to have to with what he has. It's unfortunate for Burnley, even somewhat unfair, as where many other teams try and buy their way out of trouble, the Lancashire side simply don't have those kind of resources at their disposal.

Opponents West Brom roll up to Turf Moor in reasonable form since the arrival of Tony Pulis. With three clean sheets from three games and five points to show for their troubles, it appeared the Pulis factor was already taking place at The Hawthorns. However, last weekend's 3-0 defeat  to Spurs brought The Baggies firmly back to reality.

Similarly to Burnley, West Brom also endured a disappointing transfer window with some potential deals falling foul at the last minute. Nevertheless, they were able to sign Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher and the Scottish international should be clear to make his debut on Sunday. Whilst the addition of Fletcher is likely to add some steel to the West Brom engine room, it does not rectify their problems further up the pitch.

Early prices for this weekend's clash have very little to choose between the two sides, with Burnley slight favourites at 8/5. West Brom can be backed at a best priced 21/10, with the draw a 23/10 shot.

Burnley v West Brom Betting Tips

Much as I would love to see a high scoring encounter with a plethora of attacking football, all the facts are pointing towards an absolute rotter of a game this Sunday. Burnley have only managed 11 goals at home this season, this is the second worst record in the league behind Aston Villa. West Brom have managed even fewer than that away from home and also have the second worst record in the league behind, yes you've guessed it, Aston Villa. Combine this with the fact Tony Pulis' tactics are about exciting as eating porridge, I would suggest backing the draw outright at 11/5 with Betfred as our first football betting tip for Sunday’s match.

Moving into the goalscoring market for Burnley v West Brom in search of our next prediction, and although no goalscorer is tempting at 7/1, my head has been turned to a particular statistic surrounding West Brom this season. With a league high 55% of their goals coming from set pieces, backing a West Brom defender to get on the scoresheet could yet yield some potential value.

Joleon Lescott has picked up the odd goal or two over the years and is well priced at 14/1 with Bet365 to notch anytime in 90 minutes.
