Six weeks ago I’d have been predicting a comfy Liverpool win, but Christian Benteke has decided that he’d like to score a few of late, and Villa, while by no means safe, have dragged themselves clear of the mire. Nine goals in their last five games is three more than Liverpool have managed. In fact, Benteke himself has scored more goals in the last five games than Liverpool.

Generally, though, Liverpool have looked assured against nominally weaker teams. The last time they lost to a team outside the top four was November. I predict they’ll win, but that it won’t be by any means a cakewalk. Liverpool to win by exactly one goal is 13/5 with Bet365 and the first weekend football tip on the match.

So for a correct score betting tip what’s it going to be? 0-1? 1-2? 2-3? I’d plump for the middle one. Both teams to score is 10/11 with Ladbrokes. Villa will be happy on the big pitch and Benteke is clearly on fire.
