It’s week 14 of what has been an outstanding and eventful Grand Prix season so far. This week sees Formula 1 arrive at the Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore and here are a few tips and predictions for this weekend’s race.

It is a remarkable setting on the Marina under the streetlights and all eyes will be on the next instalment of the ever-simmering rivalry between teammates and World Championship contenders Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

Rosberg still holds a 22-point lead in the Drivers’ Championship with 5 races to go but, after victory at Monza last time out, Hamilton has applied some pressure to his teammate and that showed with Rosberg guilty of two unforced errors in that race when Hamilton was on a charge.

There is no doubt that luck and mechanical problems have severely dented Hamilton’s title challenge so far this season but, after the infamous collision at Spa two races ago, it would appear that the pendulum may have swung back in favour of the British driver in the race for the Championship.

With the two Mercedes drivers clearly having the fastest car on track the betting market clearly reflects this fact and there is no value in backing either driver at short odds.

The value appears to be in the Each-way and head to head markets for this particular race and the 9/1 on offer with Bet365 about Daniel Ricciardo each way in the outright market looking quite inviting. The Australian is the only non-Mercedes driver to win a Grand Prix this season with three victories to his name and still with a long odds chance of challenging for the Drivers’ Championship, bearing in mind the double points system available in the final race in Abu-Dhabi. This is a strong circuit for Red Bull and suits their car well, with Sebastian Vettel having tasted victory at this circuit last season and the reigning Constructors World Champions will be hopeful of pushing Mercedes all the way this weekend.

Elsewhere, the Williams team have had an excellent season so far and both their drivers have looked strong both in qualifying and in the races themselves. They have undoubted straight-line speed and good reliability that has seen them overtake Ferrari for third place in the Constructors Championship.

Following his first podium finish of the season, F1 veteran Felipe Massa, will come into this race full of confidence and will be looking to build on that performance in Italy. He is on offer at 11/1 with both William Hill and Bet365 without the two Mercedes drivers and that poses a value each way bet at 1/5th the odds 1-2-3.

The final tip also features the two Williams drivers in a head to head in qualifying and, although Vallteri Bottas has looked very strong and quick all season, I have gone for Massa to out-qualify Bottas, which is available at 5/4 with Bet365.
