World Cup 2014 Semi-Final Betting Tips

Alongside our Match Previews and Betting Tips our football editor (@AlexPeace93) has put together his best World Cup 2014 betting tips for the Semi-Finals!

Germany v Brazil Tuesday 9pm GMT.

The first World Cup Semi-Final is one that brings back memories with two giants of World Football clashing.

With Brazil coasting to victory over Colombia at 2-0, their fans were probably believing this would be their World Cup. The crowds (and at times referees) have been right behind them and their seemed to be no stopping them. In the second half against Colombia though they lost probably their two star men from the tournament. Thiago Silva, who was brilliant against Colombia picked up a booking ruling him out of the Semi-Finals while Neymar picked up a terrible World Cup ending injury, players need to step up to fill the void he has left.

Germany on the other hand only seem to be getting better and better. Their gameplan against France was perfect and executed immaculately. Attacking for the first half, they got a 1-0 lead via a free kick and then in the second half sat back and let France come at them while defending superbly. They will be Brazil’s biggest challenge to date by a long way and there will be no chance of them being overawed by the atmosphere like the likes of Colombia.

When you think that 3/4  Quarter-Finals had one goal or less, these games are getting tight. I fancy Germany to progress but it could go to Extra-Time very easily, perhaps even penalties.

When you see that 5/6 World Cup Semi’s have had under 1.5 goals, it looks like this will be close, combined with the fact Germany’s last three games   Under 1.5 goals is the best bet here at 13/8 with William Hill.

Argentina v Holland – Wednesday 9pm GMT.

Second up is a tie that could be very tasty. Both sides have impressed in stutters and at their best can cause anyone problems.

Argentina got here with a well taken goal from Gonzalo Higuain against Belgium but failed to add to it from there. Belgium caused them problems but they did defend well. Their World Cup has mostly been lit up by Messi but he has yet to really shine in the knockout stages.

Holland probably gave us the drama of the Quarter-Finals, held for 120 minutes by Costa Rica, with penalties approaching, they brought on Newcastle stopper Tim Krul, who saved two Costa Rican penalties and put the Netherlands through.

Once again, this could very easily go all the way to extra-time and considering these two sides managed one goal between them in the Quarter-Finals and that Argentina needed Extra-Time in their last 16 match, goals will be at a premium, get on under 1.5 goals (again) at 13/8 with Coral.
