Germany v USA 5pm GMT

There is still plenty to play for in Group G with all of USA, Portugal and Germany having a chance of qualifying alongside Germany who look as good as safe due to goal difference.

The USA and Germany are both on 4 points while Portugal and Ghana are on just one so if one of these sides lose, an other one can go through. We know one of these sides will progress and Germany are more likely.

The Germans were very impressive in their opener against Portugal as they dispatched them 4-0 and didn’t play badly in their 2-2 draw with Ghana who seemed to hugely up their game from the opener. They have plenty of players who can score goals which produce exciting matches.

USA were one of the favorites to go home and bottom as well but have confounded all that with an opening victory against Ghana before only a last minute goal stopped them beating Portugal and progressing. They have looked adventurous with Clint Dempsey looking like a man reborn.

Germany only need a point to confirm top spot and USA can probably still lose and go through put a point would be enough. These two sides may have seen goals so far but with neither side needing to win, they may just play for a 0-0, get on under 2.5 goals at 19/20 with Bet365

Portugal v Ghana Betting Tips

We could be losing another big European side on Thursday to join the likes of Italy, Croatia, Spain and England.

Portugal have far from impressed so far falling to a 4-0 defeat and they were very lackluster against the USA. They can still qualify though if Germany do them a big favor and they put in a good performance. Ronaldo has far from impressed and they will need him to perform if they want to progress.

Ghana were adventurous and exciting in their game with Germany and almost got a point off the USA and their attacking spirits could make this a lot of fun. They have a lot of pace and flair and can cause a weak looking Portugal defence issues.

Portugal have far from impressed so far but Ghana have, they are a massive 21/10 to beat Portugal with William Hill and are worth a bet at that price.

Algeria v Russia 9pm GMT

Two sides also with a chance of progressing are Algeria and Russia. Algeria were impressive against Belgium despite defeat but scored plenty of goals in a romp against South Korea.

Russia under Capello have looked a bit like England under Capello, they drew 1-1 with South Korea before losing one of the worst games of the World Cup so far 1-0 to Belgium.

With Belgium gunning for top spot against a poor South Korea, the winner of this one will progress, while a point would be enough for Algeria. Russia need the win but I’m not convinced by them in front of goal.

Playing for the draw is a risky game and Algeria look much better going forward than they do at the back so that may be their downfall in this one. Several sides who are yet to impress have pulled it out of the bag in the last game though and scraped through.

It could similar to the likes of Italy v Uruguay with one side playing for the draw, it could be dangerous for Algeria. Russia could nick this one or two nil and Russia to win and under 2.5 goals is a good price at 10/3 with Bet365.

Belgium v South Korea 9pm

Finally, we have Belgium v South Korea, where top take on bottom in the group.

South Korea are probably out unless there is a massive swing in goal difference and Russia beat Algeria. They haven’t looked good enough so far and Belgium who already have six points may rest men and just try and enjoy this one.

Belgium have won back to back matches now without overly impressing. They had to come from behind to beat Algeria and their game with Russia was one of the worst of the World Cup so far even though they won.

South Korea managed a 1-1 draw with Russia before crashing 5-2 to Algeria in their second match. They haven’t impressed at all and may struggle against a strong Belgium team.

I fancy Belgium to make it a full house with 9 points here and could do it comfortably, Belgium to win -1 handicap is a nice 2/1 with William Hill.
