Weekend Football Tips – Saturday Afternoon 4-fold

It’s the weekend we’ve all been waiting for! After taking a few months off for summer we’ve got the return of the Premier League as well as the Football League. Our tipster Alistair English has  picked out four games for you to bet on this weekend, as a fourfold. We look to start the season with that winning feeling!

Everton vs Watford

Roberto Martinez will have been happy to start the new season at home to newly promoted Watford, it gives them a real chance to start on the front foot and banish the memories of a difficult campaign last season. Watford have a new manager and have signed enough players to have pretty much a new starting eleven to the one that got them promoted from the Championship. I think it will take those players some time to bed in, especially as many are new to the Premier League,  and that will be to the advantage of a relatively settled and experienced Everton side.

Everton to win – 8/11 Skybet

Leicester vs Sunderland

Few would have predicted this to be a Premier League fixture about six months ago with both these sides languishing near the bottom of the table but Leicester managed to pull off a remarkable escape whilst Dick Advocaat ensured Sunderland’s safety. Leicester have appointed Claudio Ranieri in place of Nigel Pearson and it’ll be interesting to see how he gets on. Leicester’s remarkable run was built on the foundation of strong home performances whilst Sunderland managed just three wins on the road last season, I think the home side will edge this one.

Leicester win – Evens – Paddy Power

Accrington Stanley vs Luton

Accrington Stanley are favourites to be relegated from League 2 this season and have a difficult task against a Luton side who are second favourites to win promotion.  Luton will be looking to start their campaign brightly and will see this as an ideal opportunity to do so, I think they will have too much about them and should win this one.

Luton win – 5/4 Paddy Power

Blackburn vs Wolves

Despite losing Rudi Gustede to Aston Villa in the transfer window Blackburn still have Jordan Rhodes to rely on for goals. Wolves made a late push for promotion but left it too late to make the playoffs, they will be looking to go one better this time and will fancy a return to the Premier League. Blackburn are probably looking at a midtable finish, with hope of a run at the playoffs. I think these two are evenly matched and with some rustiness to shake off from the summer I think the draw is the most likely outcome here.

Blackburn v Wolves – Draw – 9/4 Paddy Power
