UEFA Champions League Final Preview and Football Betting Tips – Back A Dortmund Surprise

Wembley Stadium plays host to the first ever all-German Champions League final, as Borussia Dortmund face Bayern Munich in what will be their fifth meeting of the season.  

All those encounters have been closely-fought, and although Bundesliga champions Bayern start as solid favourites to lift the trophy, the result of Saturday’s final is by no means a foregone conclusion.  Whatever the result let's hope this match lives up to the hype surrounding it.

Borussia Dortmund have lost only once in the Champions League this season and that defeat came at the Bernabéu, as the Germans survived a late Real Madrid onslaught to book their place in the final.  Despite Dortmund having seemingly gone off the boil domestically since that loss, do not be fooled.  Jurgen Klopp is a fantastic tactician, and if there is a coach who knows how to defeat one the best club sides in Europe at the moment, then there is no doubt it is him.

Bayern Munich have been many people’s idea of the winner of this year’s Champions League since the early stages of this competition, and at the group stages there were some fantastic prices to be had about Jupp Heynckes’ side lifting the trophy.  Bayern have lost only one of their last 43 matches in all competitions and so it is not difficult to understand why they are odds-on favourites to win the match.

In the previous four encounters between the sides this season there have been two draws and two victories for Bayern, although there has not been much to split the teams in any of those games.  In three of those four matches both teams have scored, and I would expect that to happen again in Saturday’s match.  Although the price is not fantastic, I think it’s worth buying some money at 8/11.  Despite Bayern having had the upper hand this season, I am going to swim against the tide and back the value bet in the match odds market, which is of course Borussia Dortmund to win.  At 7/2 they are worthy of some cash to cause an upset and win in 90 minutes.
