The Open Championship Betting Tips and Predictions

The British Open Championship 2014 betting tips and predictions for this week’s golf major at Royal Liverpool in Hoylake.

What we’ve been waiting for is here. The Open Championship and in my opinion, the most prestigious major. This year the Open will head to Holyake in England. This is the place where Tiger triumphed in 2006 to win his 2nd straight Open at the time. He’s back, but hasn’t won this tournament since then. And it is also the first time I can remember Tiger not being the favorite in a major.

Holyake has hosted the Open 11 times but was out of rotation from 1967 to 2006 so there isn’t a ton of course data to gather. Avoiding the vicious fairway bunkers are always key to winning an Open so good drivers off the tee and those who strategically move around the course should do fine. Here are some outright winners betting tips for The Open this week.

2014 British Open Golf Betting Tips

Sergio Garcia to win – bet here at top price 28/1 with Coral.

Sergio is having an excellent year and is playing really superb golf. He is an excellent scrambler and has significantly improved his short putting which has plagued him most of his career. He finished 5th here in 2006 so should have fond memories of the course and makes up our first Open Championship betting tip.

Graeme McDowell to win – bet here at 30/1 with Sportingbet.

G-Mac has a US Open to his name already. That doesn’t mean a ton here, but he means that he knows how to play strategic golf and won’t take undue risks. He picked up an unexpected win a couple weeks ago in France and has played good golf, only missing one cut this year.

Rickie Fowler to win – bet here at 40/1 with Bet365.

Rickie Fowler is still a young kid, but the experience is building up and he has gone on record saying how much he enjoys this championship. This will be his 5th Open and his finish line reads 14-5-31-MC. Not bad. He’s also peaking in the majors this year after finishing 5th at the Masters and 2nd at the US Open so makes up our final golf betting tip for players to win the Open this week.
