It’s Sunday and just two horse racing meetings today, with flat action at Pontefract, while Southwell race over the sticks.

Today’s Horse Racing Tips

Pontefract Racing Tips –

2.15 – Pontefract – The William Haggas yard do well up at this track so their Shaka Zulu is respected. However, that horse is a bit exposed now and we like the unraced APPLETON (Bet here at 10/3 with Betway). From the Richard Fahey team, that have won this race twice in the last three runnings, the horse has Tony Hamilton riding (he’s ridden the last two Fahey winners of this race too) and might have enough first time out to take this.

3.45 – Pontefract – On these terms the David Lanigan-trained INTERCEPTION (Bet here at 2/1 with Skybet) should take all the beaten here. The horse wasn’t beaten far in a Group Three at York last time out should find this drop back to Listed company in her favour.

4.50 – Pontefract – A lot of unexposed runners here, but SKY CAPE (Bet here at 4/7 with Betfair) was a pleasing third on debut and really with the expected improvement should have enough to improve and be hard to beat here. The Charlie Appleby yard have a decent 35% strike-rate at the track too.

Southwell Racing Tips –

2.00 – Southwell – RUSSIAN BOLERO is a non-runner now so this looks best left to the John Ferguson horse DUBAI PRINCE (Bet here at 4/9 with Paddy Power)

3.30 – Southwell – We’ll take a chance on JIGSAW FINANCIAL (Bet here at 8/1 with Betfair). The Laura Young team often do well here at the track (43%) and this previous CD winner gets in off a low weight. Sam Twiston-Davies is an eye-catching jockey booking too and it doesn’t look the best of races.

5.35 – Southwell – TOKYO JAVILEX (Bet here at 16/1 with 888 Sport) might be a nice price here. Nigel Hawke’s runner hasn’t shown a great deal to date but has slipped to a handy mark and it’s interesting that the yard do well at the track too. Some slight stamina issues to overcome but looks on a cracking mark.
