The average winning SP in the 9 years is 11/1

FREE HORSE RACING TIP: A tough race but we’ll side with Andrew Balding’s DUNGANNON (e/w) (Bet here at 12/1 with William Hill) winning this race for a third year on the spin. Now 8 years-old the horse is not getting any younger but clearly likes it here at the track and after a slightly below-par season is actually 4lbs lower than last season. Of the rest, Steps is another past winner of this race (2011) so is another that catches the eye, especially with the jockey’s 7lbs claim.

3.10 – Bet Through The Racing Post App Handicap Cl2 1m4f CH4

12/13 – Had 3 or more runs that season
11/13 – Aged 3 or 4 years-old
11/13 – Carried 9-3 or less in weight
10/13 – Rated between 82 and 87
9/13 – Winning distance 1 ¾ lengths or less
9/13 – Favourites unplaced

8/13 – Drawn in a single-figure stall
8/13 – Aged 3 years-old

5/13 – Raced at Doncaster previously
2/13 – Winning favourites (1 joint)
2/13 – Won their last race
2/13 – Filly or mare winners
The average winning SP in the last 10 years is 13/1

FREE HORSE RACING TIP: A 3 year-old horse has won this race for the last 4 runnings so with that key trends in mind the Ralph Beckett-trained ARGUS (Bet Here at 5/1 with William Hill) is interesting. The horse gets plenty of weight from the others being a 3 year-old and is actually rated 89 so on these terms looks very well-in.

3.45 – Racing Post Trophy (Group 1) (Entire Colts & Fillies) (CLASS 1) (2yo) CH4 1m

13/13 – Winning distance – 1 ¼ lengths or more
11/13 – Foaled in February or later
11/13 – Won either 1 or 2 races before
11/13 – Placed in the top two last time out
11/13 – Favourites placed
11/13 – Ran with the last month
10/13 – Favourites
9/13 – Foaled in either Feb or March
9/13 – Ran at least twice previously
9/13 – Won last time out
8/13 – Raced at either the Curragh (3) or Newmarket (5) last time out
5/13 – Won by an Irish-based yard
4/13 – Won by a Montjeu colt
4/13 – Trained by Aidan O’Brien
3/13 – Went onto win the Epsom Derby
1/13 – Went onto win the 2,000 Guineas
1/13 – Went onto win the St Leger
The average winning SP in the last 10 years is 13/2
Five winners have gone onto win the following season’s Epsom Derby
Aidan O’Brien has won the race 7 times – 1997, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2009, 2011 & 2012

FREE HORSE RACING TIP: Trainer Aidan O’Brien will be looking for his 8th win in this lucrative Group One, and has a strong hand with the likes of Deauville and Johannes Vermeer. However, O’Brien might have to settle for second best this year with John Gosden’s FOUNDATION (Bet here at 11/10 with Paddy Power) looking the clear one to beat. Surprisingly this powerful yard are yet to win this race, but this unbeaten Derby-entered colt should be able to put an end to that run. Dettori and Gosden have already had a cracking season and with Frankie reporting that there should be more to come from this horse then everything points to win number four for this exciting 2 year-old.

Newbury Horse Racing Trends (C4/RUK)

1.50 – Worthington´s Whizz Kidz Stakes (Registered as The Horris Hill Stakes) (Group 3 ) (Colts & Geldings) Cl1 7f CH4

12/13 – Foaled in Feb or later
11/13 – Priced15/2 or shorter in the betting
11/13 – Never raced at Newbury
10/13 – Placed 1st or 2nd last time out
10/13 – Won just 1 or 2 races before
9/13 – Had at least 3 previous career runs
8/13 – Drawn in stall 5 or higher
7/13 – Foaled in February
7/13 – Won over 7f before
7/13 – Won their last race
7/13 – Favourites unplaced
6/13 – Winning distance – ¾ lengths or less
4/13 – Trained by the Richard Hannon yard
3/13 – Raced at Newmarket last time out
1/14 – Favourites
The average winning SP in the last 10 years is 7/1

FREE HORSE RACING TIP: On these terms this race should really rest between Whitman Start Time and MADRINHO (Bet here at 16/1 with Coral) – with preference for the last-named Hannon runner. This Hannon yard have won this race a staggering 4 times since 2009 and despite being well beaten last time out – that did come in the Group One Middle Park. This drop back to Group Three company will suit, while the step up to 7f is another interesting move by connections.

2.25 – Worthington´s Victoria Club Stakes (Registered as The St Simon Stakes) (Group 3) Cl1 1m4f5y CH4

12/13 – Aged 5 or younger
12/13 – Won at least twice before
12/13 – Won over at least 1m2f before
12/13 – Priced 8/1 or shorter in the betting
10/13 – Had at least 4 runs that season
10/13 – Favourites placed
10/13 – Aged 3 or 4 years-old
9/13 – Raced at Newbury before (4 won)
9/13 – Rated 107 or higher
8/13 – Drawn in stall 6 or higher
8/13 – Placed horses from stall 6
6/13 – Raced at Newmarket last time out
6/13 – Winners from stalls 6 or 8
5/13 – Won by a filly or mare
4/13 – Favourites
3/13 – Won their last race
0/13 – Winners from stall 1
The average winning SP in the last 10 years is 5/1

FREE HORSE RACING TIP: Romsdal would have a great chance on old form, but seems to have rather lost his way of late so might be worth taking on. Melodious looks one with decent claims, but the Luca Cumani-trained KOORA (Bet here at 3/1 with Betfred) is the call. This will only be her fifth career start so there should be more to come. The drop back in trip after finding 1m6f a tad too far last time will suit and she also gets 8lbs from Romsdal.

3.00 – Bathwick Tyres Handicap Cl2 1m2f6y CH4

12/13 – Aged 3 or 4 years-old
12/13 – Winning distance – 2 lengths or less
11/13 – Carried 9-0 or less in weight
10/13 – Priced 9/1 or shorter in the betting
10/13 – Drawn in stall 8 or lower
10/13 – Had at least 5 runs that season
9/13 – Won just 2 or 3 times previously
9/13 – Won over at least 1m2f before
9/13 – Raced at either York (4), Ascot  (2) or Newmarket (3) last time out
6/13 – Winning favourites (1 joint, 1 co)
4/13 – Raced at York last time out
2/13 – Ridden by Martin Dwyer
2/13 – Won last time out
1/13 – Filly or mare winners
The average winning SP in the last 10 years is 15/2

FREE HORSE RACING TIP: This is another race that the 3 year-olds have had a good record in – winning 5 of the last 7 renewals. With that in mind GOLD PRINCE (Bet here at 25/1 With Ladbrokes) and FAITHFUL CREEK (Bet here at 22/1 with Coral) stand out. Gold Prince was well-beaten last time out but tries this 1m2f trip for the first time and getting a fair bit of weight might be worth a small e/w interest. Faithfull Creek is one of the highest-rated in the field but as dropped to a fair-looking mark after some slightly poor runs. He’s run well in some Group races before that so on that running would be a big player in this class.

Cheltenham Horse Racing Trends (C4/RUK)

2.10 – winner.co.uk Handicap Chase Cl2 1m7f199y CH4

No previous runnings
Michael Scudamore has a 27% record with his chasers at the track
Alan King is just 5 from 60 with his chasers at the track

FREE HORSE RACING TIP: Not a lot to go on but trainer Michael Scudamore has a decent record at the track so his previous Cheltenham Festival winner – NEXT SENSATION (e/w) (Bet here at 9/1 with Ladbrokes) – is the pick. The horse won the Grand Annual last season on the final day of the festival so we know he likes it here. He’s sure to be ready first time out so is worth chancing in what looks a competitive contest.

2.45 – Masterson Holdings Hurdle Cl2 2m110y

6 previous runnings
5/6 – Having their first run of the new jumps season
4/6 – Irish bred winners
4/6 – Placed favourites
3/6 – Placed last time out
3/6 – Favourites
2/6 – Officially rated exactly 131
2/6 – Won 3 times over hurdles previously
The average SP in the last 6 runnings is 9/2

FREE HORSE RACING TIP: Nicky Henderson’s HARGAM (Bet here at 9/4 with Boylesports) is the pick here. The horse rather lost it’s way after running third in the Triumph Hurdle last season when beaten at odds-on at Aintree next time out. However, he had a hard season for a young horse and with a 6+month break should be a lot stronger this time. Barry Geragthy – who now rides for JP McManus – teams up with his old boss Nicky Henderson.

3.20 – winner.co.uk Trophy (Handicap Chase) Cl2 3m1f CH4

8 previous runnings
8/8 – Won over at least 3m before
8/8 – Priced 9/1 or shorter in the betting market
7/8 – Carried 10-11 or more in weight
6/8 – Favourites unplaced
6/8 – Rated 136 or higher
6/8 – Winning distance – 3 lengths or less
6/8 – First run of the season
5/8 – Won at Cheltenham before
5/8 – Irish bred winners
5/8 – Trained by Philip Hobbs
4/8 – Won by a horse aged 8 years-old
4/8 – Ridden by jockey Richard Johnson
4/8 – Unplaced last time out
1/8 – Favourites
Roalco De Farges won the race in 2014
The average winning SP in the last 7 runnings is 6/1

FREE HORSE RACING TIP: Champion Court has found a new lease of life and comes here on a four-time. He’s still well-treated on old form and one for the shortlist. However, the Philip Hobbs team have won this race a staggering 5 times since 2008 – including 12 months ago with ROALCO DE FARGES (Bet here at 7/1 with 888Sport). That horse lines-up again here and is actually 4lbs lower than 12 months ago. The yard have been firing in the winners too, while the horse clearly goes well fresh after winning this race 12 months ago too.
