Royal Ascot Day 4 Betting Tips, Runners and Race Previews

RoyalAscot-image.jpg

An emotional day at Ascot yesterday saw Lady Cecil secure a Royal Ascot success whilst the Queen’s filly Estimate held on in a gripping renewal of the Gold Cup. The Coronation Stakes takes centre stage on Day 4 and here we take a look at that race and the rest of the card, providing some free betting tips.

2.30 – Albany Stakes (Group 3) 6f

E/W Selections:

WONDERFULLY @ 10/1 with Bet Victor

ARABDA @ 28/1 with Bet Victor

WONDERFULLY was successful on her only start to date when finishing well over 6f at the Curragh to get up on the line in a strongly run affair. Her breeding suggests she will stay further than this trip of 6f but a strongly run race with a stiff finish should suit her at this stage of her career. The form of that race is nothing special but bound to improve for that outing and being a full sister to the smart Mars, connections must be hopeful that she will make up into a nice filly. ARABDA was also a winner on her only start to date and although that form leaves her with plenty to do on the face of it she will improve for that outing. The step up in trip should suit and a nicely bred American pedigree, conditions may help her too.

3.05 – King Edward VII Stakes (Group 2) 1m4f

E/W Selection:

CONTRIBUTER @ 14/1 with Sky Bet

Battle Of Marengo is a worthy favourite after a solid run in the Derby and could prove hard to beat. With 8 currently declared the race has a nice each-way shape to it and CONTRIBUTER is taken to go well. A progressive colt, he chased home subsequent Irish 2000 Guineas winner Magician at Chester and can be forgiven his defeat last time out in a two runner affair against a smart filly. Step up in trip should suit on pedigree and he can take another step forward and get involved here.

3.45 – Coronation Stakes (Group 1) 1m

E/W Selection:

PAVLOSK @ 8/1 with Paddy Power

A strong looking renewal with both Irish and English Guineas present, joining a host of unexposed rivals in a competitive race. The selection is the Michael Stoute trained PAVLOSK who has been supplemented for the race by connections, despite the presence of Big Break in the line up already for the same owner. A dual winner in as many starts, she has quicker ground to deal with here but her American pedigree gives confidence she will cope with it well. She won with a lot in hand last time out and deserves her place up in grade with improvement forthcoming.

4.25 – Wolferton Handicap (Listed) 1m2f

E/W Selection:

FORGOTTEN VOICE @ 14/1 with Sky Bet

Ultra-competitive affair and a chance is taken in the Nicky Henderson trained FORGOTTEN VOICE, who returns to the flat after a successful stint over hurdles. He showed no signs of weakening ability during the course of the National Hunt season and races here off a mark just 4lb than his Royal Hunt Cup win here back in 2009. When last seen on the flat he was contesting Group races and with good ground set to suit him, he could be an interesting contender if his hurdles performances are anything to go by.

5.00 – Queen’s Vase In Memory Of Sir Henry Cecil (Group 3) 2m

E/W Selections:

DISCLAIMER @ 9/2 with Bet Victor

Lady Cecil secured emotional success on Day 3 of the meeting and she will be hopeful that DISCLAIMER could add to that tally in the Queens Vase; a race won last year by Gold Cup heroine Estimate. Disclaimer has won on her last 4 starts and looks to have been aimed at this race all season long. Her stamina is not assured but there is plenty of encouragement in her breeding that she will stay the trip and given her progressive profile she looks sure to go well. Wide draw to contend with which is not ideal but she should not be too far away assuming stamina is no issue for her.

5.35 – Buckingham Palace Handicap (Class 2) 7f

E/W Selection:

DREAM TUNE  @ 11/1 with Paddy Power

DREAM TUNE can still be considered a little unexposed and he has been running well in big field handicaps. He has finished 5th on his last 2 starts, first in the Spring Cup and then in the Victoria Cup over the 7f here at Ascot. Races off the same mark here and gets into the race right at the bottom of the handicap. Been given a decent draw and with in-form jockey James Doyle on board there is no reason why he won’t run another good race.
