Horse racing betting tips for each race shown live on Channel 4 on Day 3 of Royal Ascot.

Mid-way through Royal Ascot and the racing public are treated to the highlight of the meeting – the Gold Cup, a race as rich in tradition as any in the country.  Ably supported by another five races, day 3 promises to showcase some fantastic racing action.

2.30pm Norfolk Stakes

BAITHA ALGA (6/1 Ladbrokes) was an impressive winner of the Woodcote on Derby day over a furlong further but with connections having sent The Wow Signal to the Coventry he has been re-routed here.  He didn't look short of toe at Epsom and is the one who gets the vote.

Mukhmal and The Great War are both unbeaten in two starts over five furlongs.  It's hard to know what either of them have beaten, as none of the four races have thrown up much in the way of winners, but the latter especially is a massive threat given his price tag and connections.

Betting Tip – BAITHA ALGA (E/W) (6/1 Ladbrokes)

3.05pm Tercentenary Stakes

Cannock Chase deserves a crack in Group 3 company having won his handicap debut convincingly.  He is the lightly raced, late debuting type, his stable do so well with and should go well.

I'm prepared to give OBLITERATOR (6/1 Coral) another chance having been bitterly disappointing in the Irish 2,000 Guineas.  Resenting the cheekpieces and the soft ground are potential excuses while a first time tongue tie suggests another possible excuse.  He is certainly capable of far better than that and hopefully will show it now.

Betting Tip – OBLITERATOR (E/W) (6/1 Coral)

3.45pm Ribblesdale Stakes

Final Score's form is hard to weight up in the context of this race but she won the Italian Oaks on her most recent start and is unlikely to be here just for a day out.  Inchila took her form to a new level with a fourth in the Oaks last time out and sets the standard on that run but, whether she can perform to that level again is open to debate.

VAZIRA (3/1 bet365) gets the nod here to get on the scoresheet for France.  She was sent off a short price favourite in a Group 1 last time out and, although her turf form has been on a soft surface, her debut win on the all weather suggests that a quicker surface shouldn't be a problem.

Betting Tip – VAZIRA (WIN)(NAP) (3/1 bet365)

4.25pm Ascot Gold Cup

Brown Panther and Tac De Boistron have both become lively candidates for this after excellent efforts this season but both would ideally prefer a little more cut in the ground.  Leading Light is a very short price favourite for a yard who know how to win this race, he has his stamina to prove beyond two miles but he shapes as if he will stay.

Last years winner, Estimate has to be respected on that effort with no doubts about her stamina but she has not had the uninterrupted buildup to the race that connections would have wanted.  A chance is taken then on SIMENON (22/1 SkyBet) despite the wide draw.  He was second in this race last year, loves quick ground and is massively overpriced at present for a strong stable.

Betting Tip – SIMENON (E/W) (22/1 SkyBet)

5.00pm Britannia Stakes

ZARWAAN (12/1 Ladbrokes) ran a corker last time at Haydock but should prove to be better on this quicker ground.  His second to Muwaary, trying to give that rival 10lbs, looks better still after that horses’ excursions in the Jersey Stakes yesterday.

There wasn't much between Hors De Combat and Born In Bombay at Newmarket last time on good to firm ground, both look really progressive types and they rate the main dangers.

Betting Tip – ZARWAAN (WIN) (12/1 Ladbrokes)

5.35pm King George V Stakes

Windshear is a smart sort whose chances would increase if Cannock Chase goes well in the second but he has a horrible draw to work from.  Black Schnapps, Elite Army and Wrangler all have chances although they might prove better on softer ground.

PERSONAL OPINION (9/1 SkyBet) has looked a massive improver since stepping into handicap company finding trouble in running and still looking a little green under pressure.  A 6lb increase is fair on his latest effort and he is by far the handiest drawn of the principals.

Betting Tip – PERSONAL OPINION (E/W) (9/1 SkyBet)
