2.30pm Queen Anne Stakes

TORONADO (10/11 William Hill) is a short price favourite for the first and justifiably so on his form last year.  He has won first time out in both his racing campaigns so far so the absence shouldn't be too big a concern.

Verrazano heads the dangers, bringing Lockinge form to the table.  That race is normally a good guide to this event and he will come on for his first run outside of North America.  Anodin looks a lively outsider on his run behind Cirrus Des Aigles last time.

3.05pm Coventry Stakes

Seven unbeaten records on the line in the Coventry where Al Shaqab Racing could notch a second win of the meeting with The Wow Signal who lived up to his name on his Ayr debut, he does however have a horrible draw.

Kool Kompany looks overpriced on what he has done so far and Adaay merits respect but the vote goes to WAR ENVOY (11/2 SkyBet) for whom the Ballydoyle vibes have been strong with a quicker surface looking to suit his American pedigree.

3.45pm Kings Stand Stakes

SOLE POWER (5/1 Betfred) and Shea Shea fought out the finish last year and should both be right in the mix again.  The Irish raider warmed up for this with a Newmarket win where he was value for more than the bare margin but is dependant on quick ground.  The South African wasn't his brilliant self in Dubai over the winter but won't be here for a day out.

Hot Streak won on a softer surface at Haydock having run Sole Power close on a quicker surface at Newmarket.  The rain on Saturday should have taken the sting out of the ground and he rates the main danger.  Guerre looks a real speedball and took the scalp of Maarek last time and could sneak a place from what looks a tidy draw.

4.25pm St James’s Palace Stakes

2000 Guineas form under scrutiny in one of the races of the meeting.  Night Of Thunder beat KINGMAN (1/1 Coral) at Newmarket despite drifting across the track under pressure.  He was well beaten by the same rival in the Greenham and Kingman won the Irish 2000 very impressively.  The ground probably won't be quite as quick as Newmarket and Kingman is taken to come out on top.

5.00pm Ascot Stakes

National Hunt yards have dominated this staying test in recent years and Nicky Henderson looks to have a strong pair in Lieutenant Miller who finished third in last years Cesarewitch and Suraj who stayed on well at York on his debut for the yard.

The vote however goes to VILLA ROYALE (14/1 William Hill) who won that York contest.  The hood has been the making of her and this longer trip could bring about even more improvement for a yard in good form.

5.35pm Windsor Castle Stakes

Wesley Ward has sent plenty of juveniles to this meeting in recent years with three winners to his credit.  He is represented by Hootenanny here who is all speed and has an excellent draw to work from right on the stands rail.  

The best form lines come from MERDON CASTLE (13/2 Coral) and Mind Of Madness who were runners up to Kool Kompany and Adaay respectively last time.  A good showing from either in the Coventry would be a massive form boost with preference marginally for the former.
