Royal Ascot Betting Tips – Best Bets For Day 5

Horse racing betting tips for the best bets on day 5 of Royal Ascot.

Saturday is unfortunately the last day of Royal Ascot but as usual the racing doesn’t disappoint with the Diamond Jubilee Stakes as the highlight of the day. It doesn’t look any easier for punters though but hopefully we can carry on our good Royal Ascot form and help you finish off with a decent winner.

3.05pm Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes

Top weight Arab Spring will undoubtedly prove popular thanks to his in-form connections and the top class form he has shown of late.  This race is going to be much tougher than his latest victory in the Jorvik Stakes at York he will need to improve to win off top weight. Groundbreaking also looks a decent type after a 7 length win at Newmarket last time out but this is a big step up in class and a 14lb hike in the weights make take its toll.

Viewpoint certainly has the potential to win a race like this but was very disappointing at Newmarket on his latest start.  Blue Surf is never far away but struggles to get his head in front whilst Squire Osbaldeston and Continuum were both highly rated at Warren Place but both have changed stables and have something to prove.

Lady Cecil does field an interesting horse here in the form of HAMELIN (5/1 William Hill).  This Lordship Stud colt was always highly rated by Henry Cecil and it would be fitting for Lady Cecil to train another big Ascot winner.  The horse definitely has the class and was unlucky over C&D when finishing second on his latest start.  He’ll enjoy the faster ground and has a really good handicap mark against a lot of exposed types.

Betting Tip – HAMELIN (WIN)(NAP) (5/1 William Hill)

3.45pm Hardwicke Stakes

Telescope looks likely to be sent off the clear favourite but he still hasn’t won since winning a mediocre renewal of the Great Voltigeur.  One thing clearly in his favour will be conditions as he finally gets the firm ground which which saw him to best effect when winning at York.  What surprises me is that Ryan Moore has chosen to ride this horse instead of his stablemate Hillstar who has much better form.  Hillstar won the King Edward VII Stakes here over C&D 12 months ago before finishing third in the King George over C&D, form which looks to be the best on offer.

Despite winning the Brigadier Gerard well, I doubt the step up to 12f will suit Sharestan and he is best watched over this trip for the moment.  Both Pether’s Moon and Ektihaam have good past form but will need to step-up on what they have shown of late.  Forgotten Voice won at Royal Ascot last year too and isn’t without a chance and neither is Eye Of The Storm who ran well here on Champions Day.

Despite the competitive nature of the race, I feel that DANDINO (9/1 SkyBet) could come back from a long break and spring a surprise here.  He finished second in last year’s renewal with similar conditions and he has also won over C&D.  His fifth place finish in the Melbourne Cup is top class form and it wouldn’t surprise me if Marco Botti could get the horse to run vey well first time out.

Betting Tip – DANDINO (E/W) (9/1 SkyBet)
