Rome Challenger Final – Bedene

Not much separate these two in the Rome final, however I give the edge to Bedene in today's match up against Volandri. He has been serving better than the latter, who has given too many leads and breaks to his opposition this week. Bedene is a capable opponent and if Volandri gives him these opportunities Bedene will punish, unlike his previous opponents.

Every angle I look Bedene seems to get the nod. Serving stats have been better, should be fresher as he has been on court less this week compared to Volandri and he has beaten him before on clay, in Italy, in a final.

That leads on to my other main pointer, Volandri seems to crumble at the final hurdle losing 7 of his last 8 finals, whereas, Bedene has won 5 of his 6 finals.

He seems in good/confident mood for it too, despite getting his tennis bag stolen after his semi final! He quoted earlier today:

"Tomorrow FINAL against Filippo Volandri.. just after the match I went for a jog, they stole my tennis bag (wallet, documents, some rackets, etc…) luckily I gave stringer 3 rackets to string and I was running in my tennis shoes! Of course still going for the win tomorrow!!! Ajdeee!!! =)"
