Preview & Golf Betting Tips- Trophee Hassan II 2013

Kieffer.jpg

Morocco hosts the European tour this week with the Trophee Hassan II at the Golf du Palais Royal & Golf de l'Ocean, the third year the event has been held on this course with the winners from the 2 previous years both in attendance, David Horsey (2011) and Michael Hoey (2012).

The Event

The Robert Trent Jones designed golf course and is a favourite with the European tour players both because of the quality of the course and the manner in which the players are looked after, the course is within the Palace grounds.  Over the last 2 seasons the finishing score has been -13 by Horsey and -17 by Hoey, the course is short by modern standards at under 6’900 yards; the greens are very small and undulating so those who are accurate, with a good short game should prevail.

Main picks

Richie Ramsay  – 28/1 EW- click here to bet

Lightly raced this year, he is an excellent ball striker who consistently finishes high in both driving accuracy and GIR statistics, he sometimes struggles with the putter, has not been a problem at this venue, finishing 17th and 7th in the last 2 years.  Won in 2012 at the European Masters played on another short course, this course is clearly to his liking and he is well rested.

David Horsey– 30/1 EW- click here to bet

He was 6th a couple of weeks ago in India, and returning to one of his favourite events having finished 14th last year to follow his win here in 2010.  No missed cuts to date this season is solid if not dynamic, but really found his form in India finishing with rounds of 68,66,67 after a weak first round propelled him up to sixth.

David Howell– 30/1 EW- click here to bet

Yep, he has failed me (harsh, he has finished 17th, 6th but still!!) the last 2 weeks at 40/1 and 66/1, but this is another track which suits an accurate player with an all round game, he is accurate enough and an excellent scrambler and putter.  MC here in 2011 but his game is in all together better shape now, even if he fails me again I get a 3 week cooling off period to have a chat with myself!! There is no regular European tour event until mid-April.

Brett Rumford – 50/1 EW- click here to bet

Tremendous putter and scrambler who will need a stronger than average ball striking week to contend and I am encouraged by his 25th here last year.  Seems a big price for a 3 time European tour winner with a great short game, best performance so far is 12th at the Africa Open but as usual is ranked top 10 in scrambling and top 15 in putting, on a course he seems to enjoy, I like the play.

Maximilian Kieffer – 60/1 EW- click here to bet

Has amassed 5 straight Top 30 finishes in an highly encouraging start to his European tour career, 36th in stroke average through 6 events of your rookie season is mightily impressive.  He has an excellent all round game, top 20 driving accuracy, top 30 scrambling and top 30 GIR are just some of the highlights – this guy looks like a future star, may be early for a win but would be foolish not to consider him on current form and a place pays nicely at this price.
