I like the San Francisco 49ers in this contest to cover the short spread of -2.5 on Sunday. The 49ers are streaking right now, and need this victory against hated division rival Seattle to make the playoffs. If the 49ers were to miss the playoffs, this would be a massive disappointment for the Super Bowl runner up just a year ago.

The 49ers got some much needed fire power back last week in Wide Receiver Michael Crabtree who played his first game of the season for the 49ers after off-season surgery in their 23-13 victory over the St. Louis Rams. Having Crabtree running routes on the outside draws Defensive Backs and allows Tight End Vernon Davis and fellow Wide Receiver Anquain Boldin more space to work with over the middle. These three players on the field at the same time gives the 49ers more offensive weapons to work with than the Seahawks.

Seattle is coming off of a big Monday Night Victory over the New Orleans Saints, so they have one less day to prepare for this game. That was a big game between the top two teams in the NFC and after winning, Seattle has all but assured themselves of the top spot in the NFC and home field advantage throughout the playoffs, while San Francisco is still fighting hard to get into the playoffs. San Francisco simply needs this game more than Seattle, and I think they will play with a greater sense of urgency than their N.F.C West counterpart.  

Seattle is a great home team but this is a by far their toughest road game of the year.  I think with more offensive weapons and a greater sense of urgency, San Francisco will win at home and cover the short spread.
