Ivory Coast v Greece Betting Tips and Predictions

Ivory Coast have it all to lose on Tuesday and we have free World Cup 2014 betting tips.

Ivory Coast will meet Greece on Tuesday in the final match of Group C. Ivory Coast are favourites at 11/10 with William Hill, the draw is 13/5 with Bet365 and Greece are available at 14/5 to win the game.

Despite amassing just 1 point from their opening two games a win could still see Greece through, although they will be dependent on the Colombia v Japan result. However, they are yet to register a goal yet in the tournament and I can’t see them getting a result against a strong Ivory Coast side.

Since their surprise win at Euro 2004 Greece have become renowned for their defensive stability and sneaking a goal. Against Japan they looked to have restored some more of that defensive stability, stopping them scoring despite being down to ten men since the 38^th minute.

The Ivory Coast were unlucky not to get a result against a Colombia side who are now guaranteed of progressing past the group stage. A draw should be enough to see the Ivory Coast through and I expect them to get at least that. They continue to look a bit suspect at the back and Yaya Toure hasn’t been able to have the same level of impact as he has at club level.

It’ll be interesting to see how Greece shape up, whether or not they try to take the game to the Ivory Coast or try and hit them on the counter. Given the importance of this game to both sides, I think the latter is more likely.

The stand out performer for the Ivory Coast has been former Arsenal player Gervinho, the winger has managed a goal in each of the Elephants’ games and his ability on the ball and finishing, which wasn’t always present at Arsenal.  His impact could be important in trying to unlock a packed Greek defence, he is unpredictable and that can be very dangerous.

Given that a draw might not be enough to see the Ivory Coast through I think they’ll attack and should have enough quality to break down a well marshalled Greek defence. For our first betting tip we’ll take Ivory Coast to win.

So far both of the Ivory Coast’s games have ended 2-1 and given that Greece will need to attack at some point if they are to go through and in doing so will leave themselves open to counter attacks I think there’ll be goals in this game.
