2.45pm Curragh

BACK TO BASE (5/2 William Hill) is a nice looking filly, who won as she liked at Limerick when quickening up in the style of a decent horse. She looked like one to stay on the right side of and although this is a much tougher race, she deserves this step-up in class and ought to at least make the first three granted the obligatory luck in running.

3.15pm Curragh

URSA MAJOR (10/1 Ladbrokes) was entitled to need his run when coming back after two years off track and if he doesn’t “bounce” after his reappearance then his fourth place finish in the 2012 St. Leger would give him every chance this afternoon. Trainer Johnny Murtagh should know if he is good enough to win and has his horses in good enough form.

4.20pm Curragh

MARVELLOUS (5/1 SkyBet) was a revelation when winning the Irish 1,000 Guineas and then a bitter disappointment in the Epsom Oaks. The race potentially came too soon and a slightly longer break and first time blinkers could make all the difference here. If she reproduces her best form she should run a very good race and the O’Brien yard could add yet another winner for the season.
