Horse Racing Betting Tips: Saturday’s Best Bets

A genuine case of close but no cigar last week with a late withdrawal from the Cambridgeshire (Top Notch Tonto giving us a refund), and like all each way bets I place of late, Come To Heel was fourth meaning we lost out on a payout by a neck as they passed the line – bloomin typical!

This is not necessarily the best time of year to make your fortune on the horses as the horses go over the top after a long hard season while maidens are given an educational run before being put away for the winter – finding those likely to win is even more guesswork than is normally the case.

This weekend we will try another couple of horse racing tips spreading ourselves geographically from Redcar all the way down to Ascot, and starting with a fiendishly tricky handicap where each way has to be the order of the day.

Ascot 3.50pm Betting Tip

The 3.50pm over seven furlongs is all set for eighteen runners as I write meaning we get paid out for first to fourth which leads me to what looks like the Richard Hannon second string in Magic City (14/1 William Hill). Ryan Moore rides favourite Wentworth with Pat Dobbs on my selection who has already had a profitable season with four wins before finding it all a bit too much in Listed class last time out. The four year old gets a couple of pounds from his younger stable mate and although it could well be close between the two, at odds of 14/1 I may yet end up with the better value.

Redcar 4.35pm Betting Tip

My other bet is a case of once more over the cliff my lemming friends as I have backed Paris Rose (11/2 Bet365) all season giving me wins at 7/2 and 13/8 – plus four losses. I was lucky enough to visit William Haggas in his yard pre season and he talked in glowing terms about this daughter of Cape Cross who can be forgiven her last run when she clearly failed to see out the mile and a half. Dropped back to a more suitable ten furlongs again here, and off a handicap mark a couple of pounds lower, she is another who should at least go close on a very competitive weekend.
