Trainer Richard Hannon enters two horses into the race, with Constantine (14/1 SkyBet) looking far more progressive than stablemate Championship (12/1 Betfred).  The former’s best effort to date was in his final start last November when driven out to win at Lingfield over 7f.  His 200 day absence, coupled with his 4lb rise, will make things more difficult but he can’t be ruled out.  The latter, who has been allotted top weight, looked a great prospect on his debut last year when winning a competitive maiden stakes at Newbury, over six furlongs.  He hasn’t progressed since and, on his seasonal reappearance, he dissapopinted.  He looks to have plenty to prove here.

Hagree (10/1 Ladbrokes), has already run three times since April, making his turf debut last time out.  The form of that race has worked out well with a couple of horses that finished in front of him on that day, winning since.  He has a 5lb claimer on board which will make things easier and he looks to be on a good mark.

Paul Cole’s Skaters Waltz (7/1 bet365) is an interesting runner.  He has improved with every career start, winning at Newbury last time out.  On his all-weather and handicap debut, he looks to be running off a nice mark and if he continues to improve, then he is another worth noting.

Despite failing to settle last time out at Leicester, Extremity (7/2 William Hill) still claimed victory over seven furlongs.  Martin Dwyer has a good relationship with this horse and, if able to settle him in the early stages, he could go very well off only a 4lb higher mark.

Westminster (16/1 SkyBet) represents John Gosden and William Buick, and is a horse who looks to have plenty to prove here.  His best form has come on the fibre sand, and it will take more than the fitting of blinkers to give him a helping hand here.

With three runs, and three places to his name, BOWIE BOY (5/1 William Hill) is a model of consistency.  A winner last time out on this course, this colt’s best effort has come when winning over eight furlongs.  Even though he showed signs of greeness, he asserted in the final furlong.  Although he is stepping back in trip here, that doesn’t look to be overly concerning and his consistency and honesty makes him appealing each-way prospect.

Idea (3/1 Ladbrokes) won his sole completed start last year, after unseating jockey James Doyle on his first career appearance.  He then went on to win well next time out, looking as if he was only ever doing enough.  On his seasonal reappearance last time out, he was never put into the race, and should have come on from that run.  He’s an interesting runner, who could well come out on top if progressing.

There are a few interesting runners in this field, with a number of those likely to have come on for their previous runs.  The two that stand out are Idea and BOWIE BOY, with the latter preferred thanks to his consistency.  He’s shown signs of greeness up to now but, after a couple of months off, I think he could well improve and should have a good chance at reasonable odds.
